Want to get healthier and live longer? Lift weights.

At BAR PATH, lifting builds muscle and it also fires up your metabolism.

After you lift, your body has to repair and recover. That takes energy, so you keep burning extra calories for up to 48 hours after your workout.

More muscle = more calories burned every day, even at rest. Plus better blood sugar, stronger bones, and more energy for real life.

You do not need to be in shape to start. We scale everything to you.

Weightlifting isn't about looking good today. It's about how good your 70s, 80s and 90s will be.

After 50, we lose 1 to 2% of our muscle mass per year if we do nothing about it. And we lose bone.

Look at these two images.
Image 1: On the left is healthy bone — thick cortex, dense honeycomb inside. On the right is osteoporosis — thin, brittle, full of holes. Weight-bearing exercise and strength training build that density. In fact, strength training boosts bone density in women over 50 who lift weights.

Image 2: On the left is a young healthy thigh — big muscle, very little fat. In the middle is an older sedentary thigh — muscle shrinks and fills with fat, like marbling in a steak. On the right is an older adult who lifts — muscle preserved, almost like the young leg.

That muscle is your independence. Strength training can help preserve muscle mass and power and help older people maintain the ability to do everyday activities and remain independent, get up from a chair, carry groceries, catch yourself if you trip.

And it helps you live longer. Adding strength training to aerobic exercise might help you live longer, in a study of over 115,000 people 65 and older.

We lift weights to live better for longer. Not to beat anyone else. To make sure in 20 years you can still do what you love, on your own terms.

You don't need to be strong to start. You start to stay strong.

💥 HOME RUN ALERT + NATIONAL FINISH 💥

We need to take a minute to brag on two of our Bar Path CrossFit Athlete Development athletes.

Amelia KVEENE and Sydney ZUIDEMA both crushed their FIRST-EVER home runs this weekend at their National Tournament!!

And as a team? They battled all weekend and took 5th PLACE out of 110 TEAMS in the country. Fifth in the NATION.

This is what hard work looks like.

These two high school athletes have been SHOWING UP all summer. Early mornings, heavy lifts, sprints, jumps, all the stuff that isn't glamorous. No shortcuts.

Now we're watching their new strength and new speed show up right where it matters - in real games, in real moments.

First bombs over the fence. National stage. We couldn't be more proud.

Amelia and Sydney, you are absolute STUDS. You represent what Bar Path is all about. Strong, fast, confident, and tough as nails. Keep swinging for the fences. 💪

Back to the classroom this weekend, and I loved every minute.

Lourdez and I just retook our CrossFit CF-L2 at CrossFit St. Louis Park. For those outside the CrossFit world, CF-L2 is not a “one and done.” It is two full days of coaching real athletes, getting coached on your coaching, and breaking down movement in real time.

Why do we do it? Because the people who trust us with their hour deserve coaches who never stop getting better.

The CF-L2 makes us better at what matters most in the gym:

- sharper eyes to catch faults before they become injuries

- better scaling for every body, from teens to masters athletes to competitive lifters

- clearer cues, so you get more out of every rep, not just more reps

Lourdez brings her L2, Precision Nutrition L2, and all the rehab and mobility work she’s known for. I bring the CF-L2, Olympic lifting, and conjugate background. Recertifying forces us to check our egos, update what we teach, and come home better for you.

If you train with us at Bar Path, know this: we don’t take your trust lightly. We will keep investing our weekends and our own training so your hour with us keeps getting better.

Proud to do this with Lourdez. Proud to do it for our Bar Path family.

PARENTS: Only 8 spots left. No, really.
> Bar Path CrossFit Summer Athlete Development is capped at 20 athletes. Twelve are already in from Willmar and Spicer. When the last 8 are gone, we close enrollment.

• This is NOT a CrossFit class for kids. This is a structured, weight-training based program built for:
• Junior high athletes moving up
• Current high school athletes
• Serious competitors who want next season to look different
> What we build: strength, power, speed, coordination, and movement that holds up under contact. Less injuries, more confidence.

> The details:
• Starts first week of June
• 4 sessions per week
• AM and PM options to work around jobs and other sports
• Small-group coaching — you get coached, not herded

> Coached by Jason Schwab — CF-L2, USA Weightlifting Level 1 Coach, CrossFit Certified Olympic Lifting Trainer, Football Coach, and Sports Specific Trainer — with the Bar Path team. This is real barbell coaching, not just "workouts."

> Don't be that parent watching your kid's competition get faster all summer while yours is on the couch.
