Well looks like Mother Nature’s got a little weather in store for us here in Northern Arizona this weekend.

A little rain never hurt anybody but it sure doesn’t hurt to have a good jacket handy.

Our Rod’s Steakhouse windbreakers are just the thing for these mountain-town days when the weather can’t quite make up its mind. Lightweight, comfortable and sporting a little piece of Route 66 history.

We’ve got em available for purchase right here at Rod’s. Come on in, get out of the rain and take one home with you.

In 1985, it became Lawrence & Stella’s turn to carry the torch.

Lawrence had already spent more than 20 years growing up inside the walls of Rod’s. He started as a young dishwasher, hired by Jim Pickens, and worked his way through just about every job in the restaurant before eventually helping run the place.

Then one day in June of ’85, Jim rode in, tipped his hat and told Lawrence, “I’m outta here. You wanna buy it?”

And just like that, Lawrence and Stella became the next keepers of Rod’s Steak House.

For decades, they kept the steaks cookin’, the doors open and the traditions alive. The dining room changed a little through the years, but so much stayed familiar. The same stone fireplace. The same cow watching over Route 66. And a whole lot of the same faces coming back year after year.

They weren’t just running a restaurant. They were taking care of a piece of Williams history until it was time for someone else to carry it forward.

Good steak and good wh***ey have kept pretty good company around here for a long time. 🥃 🥩

As the evenings start cooling off in Williams, there’s something about settling into a table, ordering a steak off the grill and having a good bourbon cocktail alongside it that just feels right.

These two start with our Rod’s Reserve Bulleit Bourbon - a hand-selected single barrel bottled at 104 proof and chosen especially for Rod’s.

The Rod’s Reserve Smoked Old Fashioned keeps things close to tradition with Angostura and walnut bitters, finished under smoke and opened right at the table.

The MJ Sour shows another side of the same bourbon… fresh lemon, egg-white foam and a Cabernet float across the top.

Same bourbon. Two very different ways to enjoy it, & both are handcrafted downstairs in the Cocktail Lounge before making their way to your table.

Fall’s a mighty good time for steak and wh***ey.

There’s a little something for both sides of the steak lover in a Porterhouse.

Our 24 oz. bone-in Porterhouse brings a New York Strip and filet mignon together in one cut, grilled over an open flame and served the way a steakhouse ought to serve it.

Some folks order one for the table and split it down the middle. Others look at 24 ounces and figure that sounds about right for supper.

We don’t judge either way.

Around here, a good steak is meant to be enjoyed, whether you’re sharing or keeping every last bite for yourself.

We’ll have a table waitin’ for ya.

A little piece of family history: Roundup, 1959.

The handwritten note reads, “To Jack, from Dad & Big Joe. Roundup 1959.”

Long before Rod’s name became a familiar sight along Route 66, he was right at home in the saddle, rope in hand, living a little of the Western history that shaped this part of Arizona.

We know Rod as the man whose name has been on our sign since 1946, but photos like this remind us there was a whole life and a whole lot of stories behind that name.
