Yesterday we had a most interesting visitor. This is a Pai Stripped Whiptail. This one came in on it's own. We don't think it was a pet. This little lizard ranges from Colorado to Arizona in the elevations of around 4500 to 5000 feet. Interesting that it came up to our elevation.

🐓 Old Weather Saying: “If the rooster goes crowing to bed, he’ll rise with a watery head.”

Long before weather apps and radar, people watched the behavior of animals for clues about changing conditions. According to this bit of old weather lore, a rooster crowing unusually late in the day was thought to signal rain by morning. 🌧️

Is there science behind every old saying? Not always—but generations of farmers paid close attention to the natural world, and their observations gave us some wonderfully memorable weather wisdom.

Have you heard this one before?

When is the next total solar eclipse in the US? It will be nearly a decade before one is visible again from the U.S. The next one will take place in northern Alaska on March 30, 2033.

However, the next one visible from the lower 48 states will not be until Aug. 23, 2044. Followed by a coast-to-coast eclipse in August 2045. 🤩
