✨just one last reflection on leslie coffee co from sarah leslie ✨ when we first opened in 2018, i asked the staff to write down their intentions for the coffee shop. i compiled those intentions, added my own, and with my mom wrote out this intention & blessing for the shop. we lit candles, burned sage, and read these words.
i never imagined that those intentions could become such a beautiful reality that truly was a safe space for so many us throughout the years.
if i had to write you a book of how i did it, i wouldn’t be able to. there is no big strategy. there is no marketing plan. there are no gimmicks or tricks. my initial mission statement was “to make wichita a better place” and it seemed kind of silly say that to people like bankers and realtors. but leslie coffee co undoubtably made wichita a better place.
i never felt like i belonged growing up here, which pushed me to move to new york city when i was 18 with no plans to return. the coffee shop was as much for me as for anyone else.
the love that filled the space today was overwhelming and i just want you to know if you loved leslie coffee, you can carry it forward in your own life. the coffee was amazing, but that was only a small part of what made leslie coffee co so very special.
