I saw that a new cafe opened yesterday inside the Wichita Art Museum, so I went to go check it out for lunch today. It’s called EAT, and it’s operated by the Blue Moon Caterers group. Their menu consists of soups, salads, sandwiches, and flatbreads, and you can either order from a kiosk, from your table, or with a person up at the register. The selection and prices seem a lot more approachable to the average person than the previous tenant (there’s even a kids menu), but it still carries the sort of elegance that the art museum is known for. I ordered the Steak & Gorgonzola Flatbread, a cup of the Willie C’s Potato Soup with a baguette on the side, and their Peach Mango Refresher with the coconut milk base (you can also choose water, lemonade, or Red Bull for the base). I was very impressed with it all, especially the flatbread. It had a great crust on it that is soft on the inside, but kind of has that wood fired char on the outside. The refresher drink was very tasty as well, it was hard not to chug the entire thing. I saw someone else’s Cobb Salad and Caprese Sandwich, both looked beautifully presented. EAT is open from 10am to 2pm, Wednesday through Sunday, and you don’t have to pay admission to the museum just to go eat.
