Kobe Japanese Steakhouse is a leading independently owned Japanese Restaurant serving the Baltimore area. We offer diners a unique dining experience occurring in front of a teppanyaki grill. Diners are entertained by our hibachi chef; juggling utensils, providing a cooking demonstration, cooking the freshest meats and vegetables in front of dining guest.

• Greet customers as soon as they walk through the door
• Provide patrons with accurate wait time estimates during busy periods
• Take to-go/carryout orders over the phone
• Maintain a neat, organized front-of-house environment
• Seat guests and take initial drink orders as needed to ensure ideal speed of service
• Assist with opening/closing tasks and side work as needed
• Learn food and beverage menu
• Rotate seating between different stations to ensure even workloads for waitstaff
• Answer phones and schedule reservations with large parties

Job Type: Full-time or Part-time

Must be authorized to work in the United States.

• Maintains a Guest focus while performing duties
• Assumes 100% responsibility for quality guests’ experience
• Welcome and greet guests within two minutes of being seated
• Informs guests of specials and menu changes
• Offers specific beverage, appetizer, entrée, and dessert recommendations either upon request or you genuinely feel your guests will enjoy
• Answer questions about our food, beverages and other restaurant functions and services
• Take food and beverage orders from guests, enter orders in our point-of-sale system before taking item to the table
• Deliver food and beverages from kitchen and bar to guests in a timely matter
• Clean and prepare the table for the arrival of menu items
• Perform side work during each shift as required by service station assignment
• Complete opening and closing checklists
• Maintain clean and stocked service and dining areas
• Monitor and observe guests dining experience. Ensure guests are satisfied with the food and service
• Respond promptly and courteously to any requests
• Provide proactive beverage refills
• Prepare final bill, present check to guest, accept payment, and process through the POS system
• Be ready and willing to assist fellow servers before they ask
• Thank guests for their visit and invite them to return
• Attends all scheduled employee meetings and brings suggestions for improvement
• Notify manager-on-duty any time a guest is not 100% satisfied with their experience
• Performs other duties as assigned by a supervisor or manager

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

-Minimum of 2 years restaurant management experience.

-Preferred: Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university

-Strong organizational and communication skills

-Be able to operate a Point-of-Sales (POS) system

-Previous experience in cash handling, and closing financial activities ensuring all financials are accurate

-Punctuality and regular and reliable attendance

-Solicits service-related guest feedback and takes appropriate action to continually improve the level of service, drive overall guest satisfaction, increase return visits and reduce guest complaints

-Resolve customers complaints remaining calm, taking appropriate actions to resolve the issue and share with the team to avoid future instances

-Interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with co-workers and the public

-Ability to communicate with guests, management, co-workers and vendors

-Sources, recruits and selects diverse, highly skilled service and front of house employees

-Guarantees commitment to dress/grooming and personal hygiene standards

-Experience with scheduling shifts for front of the house employees (e.g. servers, and hostess)

-Ensures steps of service are consistently executed by training, developing and holding employees accountable

-Takes necessary disciplinary action, including dismissal of front of the house employees for unacceptable behavior or performance decisively
