Week #23 Maine 🦞

Week #23

Maine, the northeasternmost U.S. state, is famous for its rugged Atlantic coastline, rich maritime history, and massive lobster industry.

Admitted as the 23rd state in 1820, it is a land of superlatives—boasting more than 6,000 lakes, over 65 coastal lighthouses, and the most heavily forested landscape in the nation.

Maine is the only state in the contiguous United States to border exactly one other state: New Hampshire.

🌊 Maine’s 3,478 miles of tidal coastline are longer than California's.

🌳 Approximately 89% of the state is forested, making it the most heavily forested state in the U.S..

🦞 Maine is the world's largest producer of lobsters, harvesting nearly 100 million pounds annually.

🫐 It produces about 90% of all low-bush blueberries in North America.

🥔 Aroostook County is globally renowned for its massive potato harvests.

☀️ Depending on the time of year and a mountain's elevation, Maine towns (such as Lubec, West Quoddy Head, and Cadillac Mountain) are often the very first places in the U.S. to see the sunrise. 🌅

York, Maine is recognized as America's first chartered city, dating all the way back to 1641.

🍕 So obviously we had to use lobster 🦞 for this weeks pizza!! For our sauce we used Ricotta cheese with garlic, herbs, 🌿 red pepper 🌶️ flakes and Parmesan cheese 🧀. Toppings are spinach, mushrooms 🍄‍🟫 and tomatoes 🍅 and more garlic 🧄 butter for the perfect gourmet pie!

We are often asked why we dedicated our event space to our law enforcement and military. Here’s a great explanation of why 💙🖤

On this Day 2020⬇️

When this Covid started months ago it was so easy to predict that there would be an increase in crime and violence.

That is one of the reasons why Eric and I wanted to start our “Serving those who serve” program by delivering FREE meals to our first responders. It’s also why we wanted to post daily pictures of our Men 👮‍♀️ and Women 👮🏻 in Blue 💙 and share their story.

As citizens it’s our responsibility to get to know our law enforcement and elected officials. They are the leaders of our community that we need to trust and put our well being and freedoms in their hands. So shame on us if we don’t take that responsibility seriously. Eric and I have always respected law & order, that’s also why we have a non-profit Schindy's K9 Advocacy and Training Academy, that raises funds for law enforcement K9.

As Americans 🇺🇸 we can not and will not coward down and give in to these extremist who are trying to take away our Republic and Freedoms and turn us into a socialistic / communistic country. Stand tall. Respect Law & Order. Keep America Great!

🌕 Engineers in Huntsville designed and tested the Saturn V rocket that put humans on the moon, earning the city its famous "Rocket City" moniker.

🌧️ Windshield Wipers: Birmingham native Mary Anderson invented and patented the first functional windshield wiper in 1903 after noticing trolley drivers struggling in the rain.

🎄 In 1836, Alabama became the very first state in the nation to officially recognize Christmas as a legal holiday.

🆘 The first 911 call in the United States was made in Haleyville, Alabama, on February 16, 1968.

We made this weeks pizza with White BBQ Sauce. Alabama white barbecue sauce is a creamy, tangy, and peppery condiment invented in 1925 at Big Bob Gibson’s in Decatur, Alabama. Unlike traditional tomato-based sauces, it is mayonnaise-based and flavored with apple cider vinegar, horseradish, garlic, and black pepper. It is traditionally used to dunk smoked chicken or dipping sauce for French fries 🍟

We topped this pizza with chicken 🐔 bacon 🥓 red onion 🧅 green onion and banana peppers. Then smothered it with White BBQ Sauce.
