Our first day of 90 was a success! 🎉
We’ll be updating periodically throughout our drive our sponsors, but today, Scioto Residential Services Executive Director Jamie Mehaffey stopped by and made a generous donation! SRS is a local nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization with several homes throughout our area, and they continue to show how much they care about giving back to the community they serve.

We also had a few other locally connected businesses and organizations step up and donate today. Thank you to the Porter Township Firefighters, manager affiliated CCP Services, and Wheelersburg Boys Basketball for helping us get off to a great start day 1! And of course, all of our customers in store!

Today starts the three month Food drive. One thing to note, this is different than the advertisement you will see on the news for all the Food Fair's supporting the Facing hunger organization. They are a great organization, but they do not cover Scioto county, So our donations stay here and local.

🥫THE COMMUNITY FOOD DRIVE IS BACK AT DEEMER’S FOOD FAIR! 🥫

Last year, our customers, employees, local businesses and community absolutely showed up.

Deemer’s finished #1 in the entire Food Fair company! 🏆

Together, we provided 2,713 bags — representing $13,565 worth of food for people in need.

And there’s something especially important about our drive at Deemer’s:

📍 The food donated through our store stays LOCAL.

Facing Hunger Foodbank does amazing things, but unfortunately does not serve Scioto County, but the donations collected at Deemer’s are distributed through local food banks serving our own community.

And we’re doing it again.

Beginning October 1st, customers can purchase pre-packed $5 and $10 food bags right here at Deemer’s. Buy a bag, and we’ll take care of getting that food where it needs to go. So also....

🏢 LOCAL BUSINESSES — WE WANT YOU INVOLVED TOO!

This year, businesses and organizations can purchase our $5 or $10 bags in bulk to support the drive. We’d love to recognize participating businesses with a photo and special shout-out on the Deemer’s Food Fair page and in store for helping feed families right here in our community.

Whether it’s one bag or 100 bags, every donation counts.

Last year, this community made Deemer’s #1 in the company. This year, let’s see just how much more we can do for our neighbors right here at home. ❤️

The Community Food Drive begins October 1st at Deemer’s Food Fair!

Businesses interested in participating can message our page or contact the store for details. We have received so many messages from people we helped last year, your donations MATTER! let's roll!

This puppy heard Deemer’s Food Fair Deli chicken is so good he had to stop by and have some. Unfortunately he is now loitering and running in and out of the store. If someone is missing their dog, please come get him.

We will always remember September 11th, but we should remember September 12th, too.

That was the day America woke up hurting, but united. Flags appeared on porches. Neighbors checked on neighbors. Strangers became friends. Differences suddenly didn’t seem so important.

For a little while, we remembered what it meant to simply be there for one another.

Twenty-five years later, we honor the lives lost on September 11, 2001, the heroes who ran toward danger, and the families who still carry that loss.

And maybe the greatest tribute we can give them is to bring a little more of September 12th back into our everyday lives.

Be kind. Help your neighbor. Appreciate your family. Stand together.

Never forget September 11th.

And never forget who we were on September 12th. 🇺🇸

📢 ATTENTION MINFORD IGA CUSTOMERS

Over the last several days, we have seen an influx of new customers who have told us they are shopping with us because Minford IGA is either out of certain products or are closing.

We want to make one thing clear: we encourage everyone to continue supporting Minford IGA and shopping local for as long as they are able to remain open. We have spoke to a member of their staff, and from what we have been told, they are doing everything they can to stay open and continue serving their customers.

At the same time, we truly appreciate everyone who has recently chosen to shop with us for the products IGA is unable to provide at this time.

One thing that may help IGA customers is that we use the same primary grocery supplier, which means we have access to many of the same products you are accustomed to purchasing there for the most part. If there is a particular item you normally buy at Minford IGA and you cannot find it in our store, please let a member of management know and we will order it, we have already had a several request "that we got from Minford"

We are not a large corporate store where the answer is simply, “This is what we carry and we don't have it.” We listen to our customers, adjust to what our community needs, and bring in products people actually want to buy or look for. To all customers, never assume we don't carry it- we will try.

The decline of small, locally operated grocery stores across the country has made things increasingly difficult for stores like ours and Minford IGA to compete with the big corporate chains. That makes supporting local businesses more important than ever.
We have just enough stores owned locally in the Tristate by a local family Forth Foods, that we so far have not become victim to the crushing Monopoly of corporate grocery stores.

So please continue supporting Minford IGA for as long as they are there. But for anything they are unable to provide—and if the day eventually comes that they do close—we want their customers to know that you are welcome here.

We appreciate all of the new business we have received, and we will work hard to provide the same products you have been accustomed to buying at IGA whenever we can. We are excited for the Minford community to discover the we have the best chicken in the Tristate area, and Deemer’s Food Fair Deli provides hot and cold meals that people drive from all over to get.

Shop local. Support local. And if there’s something you need, just ask us... It's been a busy few days here and we thank all of our customers.
