The corner of Short and Welt has been an interesting spot for beer lovers for almost 185 years. These two draymen would have been the keg drivers of their day with a couple exceptions. The truck was powered by hay instead of diesel fuel and each keg weighed approximately 400lbs full. The original brewhouse is directly behind the wagon and is roughly in the spot The Inn at Weston Landing occupies today. We don’t know the names of these men or horses but will raise a glass in their honor.

This is a colorized drawing of Weston Landing with the Missouri River Packet Alice in port. A “packet” steamboat was the scheduled cargo bus of its day. The Alice burned in a fire in St. Louis just 15 days after this drawing is dated on May 17th, 1849. The famous St. Louis fire destroyed dozens of steamboats.
This boat carried passengers and cargo. Most interesting are all the casks lining the shore. We can only imagine some of our own WBC beer was on board.

What happens when you let a brewing Muppet choose the hops? You get a beer with nothing but Wakatu. To his credit it turned out great. Our new Fozzie Bear Blonde is on tap now. Waka Waka Waka.

We will have to make another batch of ISB just for Mason. One of our original fans. Can't wait.

It is with great pleasure we get to announce the second confirmed act of the 1st Missouri PawPaw Fest. MASON BROWN. He has been a friend of ours for more than 20 years and one of the most amazing musicians and humans we have the pleasure of knowing. We are hoping to have a contest to see if anyone can bring an instrument to the fest that Mason can't play!! 4:30p September 26th!!
