“Remembering Roots”

A tribute to The Originals — pioneers who helped bring Dim Sum and Chinese cuisine to Orange County, CA.

Their bond was built over more than 50 years—a journey that began in refugee camps, carrying nothing but the T-shirts on their backs. They went on to wash dishes in Alaska, sleep on church benches, and eventually make their way to Los Angeles.

They built something much greater than a life for themselves, they built a family, they built a legacy. Their story is one of sacrifice, resilience, friendship, and the courage to start over.

Their roots run deep, and their legacy will never be forgotten.

Thank you to everyone who has sent DMs sharing your personal stories, favorite memories, and photos. Reading each one has been incredibly special and a beautiful reminder of how many lives and memories are connected to this place.

With heavy hearts, we said goodbye to our Garden Grove location. ❤️

For 35 years, this restaurant has been more than just a place to eat. It has been a place where memories were made, families gathered, and generations grew up together.

Maybe you remember being dragged here for dim sum as a kid, waiting in those very long lines that made absolutely no sense to you back then. 😂

Maybe you celebrated your grandparents’ birthdays here.
Maybe you attended countless weddings.
Maybe this is where you celebrated your very first birthday.
Maybe you took family photos in front of our beloved phoenix and dragon wall or in front with our logo as the backdrop. 🐉🐦‍🔥

And maybe, somewhere along the way, our restaurant became part of your family’s story.

Over the years, we’ve had the incredible privilege of watching our community grow. You’ve gotten to know our team members, and they’ve gotten to know you 🥰celebrating birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, graduations, milestones, and all the little moments in between.

That’s what makes saying goodbye so hard.

But more than anything, we feel thankful. Grateful. Blessed.

Thank you for 35 years of your support, your loyalty, your laughter, your celebrations, and your memories. Thank you for allowing us to become a part of your lives and for making our restaurant feel like home.

Although we’re sad to close this chapter, our family is now moving under one roof at Seafood Cove 2. ❤️

We hope you’ll come visit us, say hi, share a meal, and make new memories with us.

And in the meantime, we’d love to see Garden Grove through your eyes. 📸
