It’s been an absolute pleasure to serve the people of Westerly these past five years. Every year we enter the colder months with a plan, and this year was no different. Unfortunately the government shutdown brought winter to us early this year and we have gotten to a point where keeping our doors open is no longer sustainable.

There are so many people to thank for playing a part in the run that we’ve had - the regulars who have come in or ordered online multiple times a week, the amazing people we’ve been lucky to employ, our families and friends for all of the support, and the town of Westerly as a whole.

Bomb has always been a grind. We are two regular guys without much money that emptied savings and retirement accounts to open what we thought would be a cool spot with great food that people would enjoy. The two of us have worked countless hours and shed blood, sweat, and tears trying to keep this thing alive. We have missed birthdays and holidays with our families, skipped important events, and gone months at a time without paying ourselves even a dime. Unfortunately it wasn’t enough.

We are both extremely proud of what we’ve done here at Bomb. We hope that Westerly will remember us as a place that was fun, had a great staff, didn’t take ourselves too seriously, helped the community as much as we could, and of course made giant awesome burritos.

It’s never clear when someone may be struggling. During this ongoing government shutdown, we know that many of our neighbors are feeling the impact in a big way. Life can be difficult enough, and families shouldn’t have to worry about how they are going to get their next meal.

Even as a small, family-run restaurant doing our best to stay afloat, our community has always been at the heart of everything we do. So we want to do what we can to help.
Starting tomorrow, November 5th, anyone affected by the shutdown can stop by and ask for the “Westerly Special”. You’ll receive two tacos, made however you’d like, and a bottle of water, no questions asked, free of charge.

This isn’t about business — it’s about being there for one another when it counts most.

Please don’t hesitate, just come by.

We are going to do this for as long as we are able to. If you’d like to help support this effort, we’ve added a “Local Donation” item to our online menu — even a single dollar helps us feed more people in our community.
