History

Storrowton Village Museum is an authentic re-created village of nine 18th and 19th century buildings. These structures moved from various New England locations have been reassembled surrounding a beautiful village green typical of colonial days. A tour of the village offers an intimate look at early American living. A staff of costumed interpreters provides insight into the 19th century lifestyle as they play the roles of villagers. Storrowton Tavern is located in the village and serves traditional New England fare year round. The Atkinson Tavern (c. 1789) once stood in Prescott, Massachusetts. The tavern, original owner, John Atkinson, was one of the last surviving revolutionary war veterans. He used the building as a store and tavern and a home to his family

Comfortable fireplaces and beautiful paneling still grace this fine example of early American architecture. The Baptist meeting house (c. 1822) was brought to the village from Southwick, Massachusetts in 1930 and joined to the tavern in 1957, doubling the size of the restaurant. Across the green is the Carriage House, a modern banquet facility that can accommodate up to 350 people. Storrowton Tavern, the Carriage House and Storrowton Village all combine to create a unique and memorable setting for your most important gatherings.
