Today was our last day serving West Plains. We just want to thank everyone who supported us, who came and dine with us, who ordered, and those who prayed for us.
It was a joy meeting new faces everyday.
Above all, it was a blessing seeing how it affect a diabetic, just by eating everyday in the cafe for a week his blood sugar was normal, gave him energy, and hope. Then there was one person in particular who came to the cafe by recommendation of one of the nurses, who is in dialysis everyday and has autoimmune disease. In his first visit to the cafe, he could barely walk from the door to the counter. He told us his health issues and he believed that changing his lifestyle especially his diet could help him feel better. Having finacial issues as he is unemployed due to his health condition, we offered to give him free meals with fresh juices for 2 weeks (with the children sacrificing their tip money) to see how it would improve his condition. After 2 weeks, he went for a blood test and all of the results were normal, which surprised his doctor so much. And oh, after 2 weeks he can walk better as well and was able to stand longer on his feet. These, fulfill our purpose of opening the cafe.
It is these experiences that increases our desire to keep this going. We experienced the benefits of a healthy lifestyle ourselves and want to share it to others that is why we opened the cafe. It was our purpose to educate the community about healthy lifestyle choices, diseases, and offering cooking classes. Unfortunately, it was only a few showed interest and thus we discontinue the lectures and wasn't able to have any cooking classes. We believed that West Plains is not ready for this yet. Hopefully in the near future.
It is with a sorrowful heart that we closed our doors in West Plains. But thankful for all of you.
