Food Not Bombs West Palm Beach FNB WPB shares free vegetarian food every Saturday. Meet 4:30 @ Nancy Graham Centennial Square OR Jose Marti Park. *REACH OUT TO US ON INSTAGRAM**

Welcome to the official page for West Palm Beach of Food Not Bombs! About Us: Food Not Bombs recovers and shares free vegan or vegetarian food with the public without restriction in over 1,000 cities around the world to protest war, poverty and the destruction of the environment. Each group is independent and invites everyone to participate in making decisions for their local chapter using the consensus process. Food Not Bombs is dedicated to taking nonviolent direct action to change society so no one is forced to stand in line to eat at a soup kitchen expressing a commitment to the fact that food is a right and not a privilege. With over a billion people going hungry each day how can we spend another dollar on war? What We Do: Every Saturday -rain or shine- we share free vegetarian/vegan food and clothing to those in need. We are a small but committed group, and would be happy if we had a couple extra helping hands! If you have any questions regarding this group, we encourage you to send us a message. Additional information regarding Food Not Bombs may be found at FoodNotBombs.net Location: Every Saturday at Flagler Park from 4:30-5:00 p.m.

“We Americans claim to be a peace-loving people. We hate bloodshed; we are opposed to violence. Yet we go into spasms of joy over the possibility of projecting dynamite bombs from flying machines upon helpless citizens. We are ready to hang, electrocute, or lynch anyone, who, from economic necessity, will risk his own life in the attempt upon that of some industrial magnate. Yet our hearts swell with pride at the thought that America is becoming the most powerful nation on earth, and that it will eventually plant her iron foot on the necks of all other nations. Such is the logic of patriotism.”
- Patriotism: A Menace to Liberty by Emma Goldman, 1910

Some pictures from last week’s share! 🥕✊

“I understand. Those comrades are obsessed with the success of the Bolsheviks in their country and, like the Bolsheviks, would like to gather the anarchists together in a sort of disciplined army which, under the ideological and practical direction of a few leaders, would march solidly to the attack of the existing regimes, and after having won a material victory would direct the constitution of a new society. And perhaps it is true that under such a system, were it possible that anarchists would involve themselves in it, and if the leaders were men of imagination, our material effectiveness would be greater. But with what results? Would what happened to socialism and communism in Russia not happen to anarchism?

Those comrades are anxious for success as we are too. But to live and to succeed we don’t have to repudiate the reasons for living and alter the character of the victory to come.

We want to fight and win, but as anarchists – for Anarchy.”

A Project of Anarchist Organization, by Errico Malatesta, 1927. Malatesta wrote it in response to Russian anarchists drafting The Platform, a plan for a united organization of anarchists, in the wake of the Bolshevik Revolution. In it he argues that the means of organization must reflect the ends of the society one wishes to build with that organization.

‘ We hold further that Communism is not only desirable, but that existing societies, founded on Individualism, are inevitably impelled in the direction of Communism. The development of Individualism during the last three centuries is explained by the efforts of the individual to protect himself from the tyranny of Capital and of the State. For a time he imagined, and those who expressed his thought for him declared, that he could free himself entirely from the State and from society. “By means of money,” he said, “I can buy all that I need.” But the individual was on a wrong tack, and modern history has taught him to recognize that, without the help of all, he can do nothing, although his strong-boxes are full of gold. ‘

Organizing Communities, Tom Knoche

Practical principles of local organizing, oriented with anarchist methods and goals. This zine outlines how by operating under these methods, the people involved and the people helped both grow accustomed to anarchist principles and develop themselves as part of the real revolutionary process. A short and handy read, we handed out during our last share 🏴

“Community organizing from an anarchist perspective acknowledges that no revolution will be meaningful unless many Americans develop new values and behavior. This will require a history of work in cooperative, decentralized, revolutionary organizations in communities, workplaces and schools. The task before us is to build and nurture these organizations wherever we can. There are no shortcuts.”

Happy new years from WPB FNB! Here’s our newish sign, since we often get the same questions: “are you affiliated with a church? are you a nonprofit organization?” the answer is hell no.

If you’re looking to join in and volunteer this year please shoot a DM and I’ll promise to look at them more often than every few weeks -(the guy running this account)

“If you don’t like the rules they make,
refuse to play their game
If you don’t want to be a number,
don’t give them your name
If you don’t want to be caught out,
refuse to hear their question
Silence is a virtue,
use it for your own protection
They’ll try to make you play their game,
refuse to show your face.
If you don’t want to be beaten down,
refuse to join their race.”

Decentralization as a strategy:

“No organization should monopolize the movement. Organizations should not be empires; they should be temporary tools that overlap, proliferate, and die out when they are no longer needed. A movement will be healthier and harder to co-opt if there is a diversity of groups filling different niches and pursuing similar purposes, and these groups will be less prone to infighting if people within the movement tend to belong to multiple groups rather than giving their loyalty to a single group.” - Peter Gelderloos in How Nonviolence Protects the State

Heavily recommend this short read, you can find it in the Anarchist Library for free.

A lot of what we hand out is baked goods or made with produce donated from various sources! Even occasional or small donations make a huge difference. Food liberation is an important part of the anarchist project of abolition of capitalism and the ending of the artificial scarcity of food! By whatever means necessary, the goal is to expropriate and repurpose what capitalism produces (and often throws away), such that it may be used for the benefit of all. This means growing our own food collectively, receiving donations of food nearing spoilage, dumpster diving, or straight up stealing. And if you see someone stealing food, no you didn’t.

Thank you to for the care package of fresh produce: squash, carrots, cabbage, eggplant, cucumbers, peppers, and more. All of it being used to its fullest extent 🥣 😋

If you would like to ask your local grocery store to help us with fresh goods each week, or you have some other means of acquiring healthy food for people, please don’t hesitate to DM us. Every little bit helps dozens of people each week.

The system which denies you healthcare, bombs foreign nations, raises your rent, exploits colonized peoples, arms police to clear out encampments and to kill civilians, and pollutes the earth has a name: capitalism. Its methods are profit and exchange.

If you believe not that profit and hierarchy should drive society, but instead reason and cooperation should, then perhaps you should read up and start an affinity group. Volunteering with your local Food Not Bombs is a good place to begin.

Making too much food is a good problem to have! 😅

“What we want, therefore, is the complete destruction of the domination and exploitation of man by man; we want men united as brothers by a conscious and desired solidarity, all cooperating voluntarily for the well-being of all; we want society to be constituted for the purpose of supplying everybody with the means for achieving the maximum well-being, the maximum possible moral and spiritual development; we want bread, freedom, love, and science for everybody.

And in order to achieve these all-important ends, it is necessary in our opinion that the means of production should be at the disposal of everybody and that no man, or groups of men, should be in a position to oblige others to submit to their will or to exercise their influence other than through the power of reason and by example.

Therefore: expropriation of landowners and capitalists for the benefit of all; and abolition of government.

And while waiting for the day when this can be achieved: the propagation of our ideas; unceasing struggle, violent or non-violent depending on the circumstances, against government and against the boss class to conquer as much freedom and well-being as we can for the benefit of everybody.”
