Season Finale Show with a pie baking contest and spirits and whiskey tasting! 🎉 Joe Krown Trio +1 featuring Papa Mali from New Orleans will take the stage! Don’t miss this world-class group featuring signature piano rolls and gritty guitar steeped in classic swampy, funky and bluesy Louisiana grooves.🤘💃🪩

The third-annual pie baking contest benefitting downtown with slices available for purchase will also be happening! Stay tuned to the Downtown West Monroe page for entry rules and details.

Additionally, a spirits and whiskey tasting presented by Choice Brands will be from 6-8 with proceeds benefitting the upcoming Northeast Louisiana Celtic Festival. Tickets for the tasting are $25. Ticket info about the spirits tasting in the comments.👇

THE BAND:
Joe Krown Trio +1 featuring Papa Mali brings together New Orleans piano, blues, funk, R&B and second-line-influenced grooves—the musical traditions associated with legends like Professor Longhair, Dr. John, James Booker and Allen Toussaint.

Joe is an award-winning New Orleans veteran musician. A pianist and Hammond B-3 organist, he’s won the New Orleans Big Easy Award in the Blues category, and his albums have won numerous accolades from publications such as the Times Picayune, Gambit Magazine and OffBeat Magazine. He’s performed at New Orleans Jazz Fest every year since 2001 and the French Quarter Fest every year since 1998. Joe also tours internationally with Kenny Wayne Shepherd and has collaborated with Clarence “Gatemouth” Brown, Allen Toussaint, Mavis Staples, and Charlie Musselwhite.

Papa Mali adds the grit! Known for his electric live shows and recordings, Mali has been touring and recording for decades. Best known as the front man for 7 Walkers, a band formed in 2009 that includes three icons: Grateful Dead founding member and drummer Bill Kreutzmann, The Meters’ founding bassist, George Porter Jr. and lyricist Robert Hunter, co-writes much of 7 Walkers material with Welbourne. Multi-instrumentalist and vocalist, Matt Hubbard completes the lineup. His work as a producer includes 7 Walkers, The Phenomenal Ruthie Foster and records by Lavelle White, Omar and the Howlers and others.

Ouachita Live is a downtown concert series held on the last Friday of the month from April through September from 7-9 PM in Downtown West Monroe’s Alley Park. Food trucks and spirits on-site! Shows are free but donations are strongly encouraged. Bring a chair to guarantee a seat. ✅
