This is one of two reviews we received last night. The first google reviews we have gotten on the new ordering process.
Review: You’re food is great, you new ordering process is stood and confusing. That’s not how you do counter service, terribly slow. Waited 20 min after the strange ordering process. Not sure what has happened here?
My response: Most fast casual concepts have had to move to the order first and table delivery model. As a lease ends companies have to dive back into the pool of commercial properties to find a new place or renegotiate at their current place. Current place wants almost twice as much as we currently pay. New locations else where are not far off that mark. So what do we do to stay open? We had to figure out how to increase productivity. We had a ceiling and a bottleneck. The ceiling was how much we could make in an hour and our sales stopped there. The bottle neck happened at the register where tons of food would sit to be paid for getting cold. Workers standing around guests standing around all waiting for the two registers to ring it all in. We broke the ceiling and ended the bottle neck and hopefully in time to find SpudToddos a new home. New landlords want to see financials and don’t think we can afford their spaces, because of our old numbers, with our new service model we can keep pace with the industry. We didn’t want to raise our prices and couldn’t raise them enough to afford a space with the old service model anyway. We could have eliminated fries, we could have sized down to no dining room or gone ghost kitchen. We hated our choices and at first we hated changing our service model. But it looks like we have saved our business and hopefully with half a year on the books serving this way a new landlord will see that we can afford their rent and we won’t have to close our doors forever. Now you have the facts. As a ma pa place we don’t have a team of people to work out the kinks of a change it’s us. Todd and I have to figure out each little detail to make it work more smoothly, all while training new people and keeping up with all the normal day to day work. Please stick it out and trust us as we fight to make it all work to keep SpudToddos open. Not in Jordan Landing after December but somewhere for all the people like you who love potatoes and American cooking from scratch. Writing this response has actually been helpful so thank you! First for enjoying our food and second for speaking honestly about how it’s been a frustrating change for you. I hope this helps you to understand, embrace and continue to support us.
Our average wait time is 8-15 minutes when busy. It’s a shorter wait time than a casual dining experience on a busy night. The waiting to be seated is shorter too. I hope this helps anyone following our account who is struggling with the change. We love and appreciate our loyal customers who are keeping us open. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
