After 20 incredible years, we have decided it is finally time for us to retire. It is with a heavy heart that we announce that we have sold our café to a wonderful new couple, Donna and Maurice, who have assured us they will continue the love and care we have worked so hard to build here. For the past 20 years, it has been our absolute joy to serve our loyal customers, share countless conversations, and create so many special memories with all of you. Over the years, you have become so much more than customers to us; you have truly become friends and family. We have had the privilege of watching so many of you grow up, raise families of your own, and celebrate life’s biggest moments right here with us.
My husband, my daughter, and I have loved watching this place become a regular stop for many of you, and almost a second home for some. One of Mr. G’s greatest joys was getting to know all of his customers and their families. And many of you even got to watch our last baby fly the nest as she headed off to Pepperdine in California to begin her graduate educational journey. I know some of you may even miss seeing what kind of crazy earrings she would show up wearing each day. As for me, baking for all of you has brought me so much happiness. It has been such a pleasure to make birthday cakes for your children and grandchildren over the years. I truly believe a great dessert can fix even the worst kind of day, or at the very least make it a little sweeter.
Through all of life’s changes, you have stood by us with so much love, support, and prayer, especially during our family’s hardest times. It has been tremendously scary to almost lose Mr. G on more than one occasion, and walking through those moments gave us a whole new perspective on life. With the incredible gift of Ashley’s kidney and this new lease on life, we truly realized just how precious time is. It reminded us that we want to spend our days together, make the most of every moment, and not waste a single one. He has always been my partner in crime, and we feel it is finally time for us to step into retirement side by side. As many of you know, Mr. G would not be here today without your prayers, kindness, and support. We will forever be grateful and will never forget all that you have done for us.
While this goodbye is bittersweet, we are also excited for this next chapter, one filled with some well-earned rest, time with family, and maybe a little travel. We will miss seeing your faces more than words can say. Mr. G and I will still be here at the restaurant for one last week before we head into retirement, so please come by and see us one last time. We would love the chance to share a few laughs one last time. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for 20 wonderful years. Thank you for your loyalty, your friendship, and your prayers.
With love and gratitude,
Britt, Mr G., and Ashley
