Our latest seasonal flavor on our winter menu is an indulgent treat. We start with a roasted buckwheat tea base, giving a toasty, nutty aroma. Folded in are pink lady and honey crisp apples from , cooked down in maple and brown sugar. We then made an oat crumble with cardamom, cinnamon, ginger and cloves for a spiced, hearty crunch to balance the sweetness of the fruit. It’s complex, yet familiar like a warm hug on Christmas. Our (California) Winter menu is now live just before the holiday season. First drop is a festive co release inspired by Dayglow’s Matcha + W.C Peppermint Einspanner. Ceremonial grade matcha is folded in our signature coconut base and layered with a vegan white chocolate peppermint bark. This Sunday on Melrose we have partnered with on a special release in celebration of Stranger Things Season 5. . This flavor is inspired by the upside down - a cross between two dimensions, giving it a decaying, chaotic, storm like vibe. A base of sticky black rice is toasted to create a purple dark, rich, nutty flavor complemented by cinnamon for a spiced bite. Folded with a slow-cooked blackberry shadowy bright swirl, adding a burst of tart and fruity acidity. Come by for One Last Ride and grab a scoop from noon to sellout. We hope you enjoy 🍦

079 PUMPKIN ATOLE 🎃

In collaboration with Andrea Aliseda in celebration of her new cookbook ‘Make it Plant-Based! Mexican’

Atole is one of the oldest and most beloved traditional holiday beverages in Mexico, enjoyed during celebrations such as Dia de los Mu***os, Posadas, and Christmas. There is a wide variety of recipes for atole that vary by region, using fresh Nixtamalized masa (or dried masa harina) as the main ingredient. It reflects a cultural legacy that highlights the importance of maíz in Mexico, which holds both ceremonial and spiritual significance.

This atole recipe from Andrea’s cookbook was crafted as an ode to the comforting and nostalgic flavors of fall. Adapted by Chef Sophie, we made a kabocha puree from Tutti Frutti Farms and used a gula jawa base to give it a caramel-butterscotch flavor (traditionally, it is made with piloncillo). We cooked it with pumpkin spices and yellow masa from Molino El B***o in Palmdale ( ) , for that traditional toasty, rich and dense creamy texture, folded into our signature coconut base. As our summer menu approaches its final month, we’d like to highlight one of our seasonal favorites. Hibiscus or “Agua fresca de Jamaica” is one of the most popular classic drinks in Mexico found commonly in restaurants, festivites, homes, and taco stands. For many of us, it reminds us of our childhood, a drink we grew up craving due to its floral-sweetness, tart, and acidic taste. For Sophie it brings her back to her grandmother’s tiendita, a corner store where she would serve this drink in a plastic bag sealed with a rubber band and a straw - a serving style commonly used in Southeast Asia.

Hibiscus also holds cultural significance in Mexico due to its roots in ancient medicinal practices. This is similar to Indonesian traditions, where hibiscus or “Kembang Sepatu” is highly praised for its power and divine-related meanings, a symbol of beauty. For that reason we wanted to maintain its purity by simply infusing the hibiscus flowers into our base with just enough fresh lime juice to balance the tartness. The result is elegant and delicious. 076 Graza Banana + Lemon Curd

We collaborated with our friends on a special release, available all summer. Our signature base is folded with banana and Graza’s “Drizzle” Extra Virgin Finishing Oil, which uses early harvested Picual olives which are punchier in flavor, complimenting the rich banana sweetness. We then fold a lemon curd made with Graza’s “Sizzle”,
using peak harvest olives resulting in a more mellow flavor, pairing beautifully with lemon. Scoops come with extra “Drizzle” and fleur de sel, of course. Grab a scoop (or pint) at any of the shops all summer at Awan. We hope you enjoy 🍦

We’re excited to announce the launch of our summer menu alongside the opening of our new store in Venice. Our first seasonal flavor is our latest collaboration with our dear friends . Nekohama’s lightly roasted hojicha draws inspiration from Kyoto’s light roast approach to coffee—where subtlety and nuance are key. By gently roasting the tea, they preserve its natural taste, soft umami, and floral depth. This is their modern interpretation of hojicha: delicate, balanced, and rooted in tradition. Our Spring menu is nearing its end as the hot summer warmth starts to creep in. One of our favorite seasonal drops has been these spectacular Oro Blanco grapefruits, organically grown by renowned farmers in Santa Paula, CA. Oro Blanco (White Gold) is a cross between a pomelo and a marsh grapefruit. It’s known for its unique flavor balance of sweet and tart without the intense acidity or bitterness, making for a refreshing scoop. 073 Guava Matcha 🍵

These Pink guavas are grown in Santa Paula and known for their sweet and musky fragrance. Their flesh is soft, creamy and incredibly juicy with tropical strawberry like notes and a beautiful color that ranges from salmon pink to deep orange-magenta.  The fruit is actually entirely edible, including the skin and seeds (which are highly beneficial for digestion and rich in antioxidants.) For our spring menu it felt like a more appropriate pairing than the more popular strawberry matcha combo. On a spiritual level Matcha brings the mind and body into harmony, whilst nourishing your health. In some cultures guava symbolizes abundance and prosperity. Together it’s quite balanced with clean, floral sweetness that lingers into an exotic acidity. Available by the scoop or pint through May at both shops. We hope you enjoy 🍦

We’re excited to announce this Spring we’ll be opening a new location in Venice next to . To celebrate we collaborated on a flavor inspired by one of their most popular creations, the Totoro. A roasted black sesame and charcoal base is swirled with toasted oat and distilled coffee. It’s delightfully nutty, creamy and sweet. Available now at both shops on our new Spring menu.
