I didn’t start this business to become a TikTok or Instagram influencer. I started this business because I love coffee and want to serve people.

It seems like nowadays Social media and Google Reviews have become a breeding ground for entitled “customers” to air their grievances against small businesses. Expectations that we run our cafes like Fortune 500 companies without thinking about the people behind the bar. Most of the time, it’s not even true.

Not every local shop has to be open until 9pm and not every local shop needs to make 10 different house syrups. Torani is fine; 1883 is fine; Monin is fine. As long as the business is being upfront and honest about their offerings, what does it matter.??

If you don’t like it, move to the next café or go to 7-Brew. But do it without disparaging the business anonymously or under some pseudo-character name you came up with when you were 12 years old. At least have the chops to tell someone face to face. I remember this guy storming out like a two-year-old on Sunday. He waited 3 seconds in line and talked to no one. Even after I said good morning.

Over the years; I’ve made adjustments based on feedback and have taken the high road. I’m happy to do so when it matters. Not this time.

This week, we’re open 8-4 Wednesday through Sunday.

Breast Cancer Awareness Stickers & Pins Now Available:

This past August, a dear friend of mine, someone I’ve known for 40+ years, came to visit.

We sat down, and she said, “Jake, I have breast cancer.”

I honestly don’t remember my initial reaction. I probably asked a few questions, then quickly changed the subject to our kids. I think I was trying to avoid emotions I wasn’t ready to deal with.

It wasn’t until she left that it really hit me.

Four-plus decades of memories came flooding back — childhood, family dinners, weddings, raising our kids, and so many moments in between.

Currently, she’s going through treatment and taking it one day at a time.

So this month, every dollar from the purchase of a pink sticker or pin will be donated directly to the Esposito family. Swing through the shop and pick one up starting Wednesday 10/7.

Talk soon,

Jason

Amazing fall vibes in Middletown today with our client Liberty Bank

We’ve been working with them for a few years now and every visit there’s one drink special that goes “viral” within the office.

This time it was “The Monica”

An Apple C***r Chai with House-Made Brown Sugar Cinnamon Syrup.

We’ll see you again soon.

A message from NECG. I want to be transparent as much as I can. The last few weekends at Factory Square have been more than I could have dreamed of. Thank you for showing up from all corners of the state.

The cart is operating at full capacity and we’re still working through the space of the café while being busier ticket-wise than we’ve ever been.

Aubrie, Gavin, Jane and Lisa have been working tirelessly and we appreciate your patience while we finalize plumbing, filtration and workflow.

Before we open 100%, I owe it to my staff to make sure they have the right tools in place so they can focus on hospitality and coffee.

APPLE HARVEST SPECIALS

During the apple Harvest weekends, we will only be offering 3 drinks for $5 each:

Hot Apple C***r
Spiced Pear Iced Latte
Cold Brew with Brown Sugar Cinnamon Cold Foam

I honestly don’t know what to expect but we’re gonna do our best to accommodate the crowds.
