Our commitment to sustained geotourism is embedded throughout the Discovery Center. For example, we offer the largest assortment of Made in Montana products in Glacier Country which allows you to take a piece of Montana home with you! But we don't stop there, we incorporate Montana made products throughout the Discovery Center such as Montana made ice cream, fudge and whipped cream served in Luke and Duke's Old Fashioned Ice Cream Parlor, Montana roasted coffee in our coffee shop and locally made b**r, w**e & spirits in our Tasting Bar! A tough day for Swan Mountain Outfitters.
We had to say goodbye to perhaps the one single horse that started it all for us decades ago. “Smokey" (official name is Peppys Blow N Smoke), was purchased as a stallion, and we bred him producing 5 colts that all worked for the outfit. He had an exceptional temperament and he was a gentlemen stud. We made the difficult decision to cut him when we chose to move away from our breeding program. Our fear was he would lose his fire and drive, but he went on to remain herd boss over the time frame when our owned remuda was nearly 200 head.
As a Hancock Foundation line Stallion, he had great disposition and athleticism, yet for the remaining 15 years of service he was our Go-To horse for kids and riders
exceptionally timid about riding. He was the first to receive the SMR brand, has received over 100 letters from kids and clients thanking him for making their visit to Montana special. Many of our riders will remember him as the main greeter at the Apgar corral welcoming guests as they checked in for their ride.
Good by old friend, the impact you had on the Tabor/Lorona and broader Swan Mountain family is immeasurable. 🕊️
