I normally do not write lengthy posts, but today is an exception. Some people leave such a positive impact on your life that a few short sentences simply are not enough.
I also intentionally wanted to create this post because we live in a time when so much negativity often fills our social media feeds. I believe we should be just as intentional about celebrating, encouraging, and honoring those who make a positive difference in the lives of others. If we can make room to criticize, surely we can make room to appreciate.
Today is bittersweet as my business mentor, Jen, begins her sweet journey into retirement.
Jen's Sweet Treats has been an incredible asset not only to Cudahy, but to the surrounding communities as well. I am forever grateful to our mutual friend, Chad, for introducing us years ago. Since that time, she has been a constant source of wisdom, encouragement, and support.
Whenever I had questions about business matters, she was always willing to listen and offer sound advice. Over the years, and especially during some of the challenges my business is facing right now, Jen has consistently been a voice of reassurance. Her confidence that everything would work out and her ability to encourage others has meant more than she will ever know. You simply feel comfortable in her presence.
She never asks for much, yet she is always giving of herself to others. One thing I know she always enjoyed whenever she stopped by Bishop's Sweets was either the banana pudding or pumpkin bread pudding. So today, I made a special delivery of pumpkin bread pudding just to say thank you.
Unfortunately, due to prior commitments, I was unable to attend her surprise retirement celebration. However, I could not let this special occasion pass without expressing my gratitude and appreciation for all that she has meant to me and so many others.
Thank you, Jen, for being the incredible person that you are. Thank you for impacting so many lives. Thank you for your wisdom, your kindness, your encouragement, and for exemplifying what it truly means to love thy neighbor as thyself.
Cortney, thank you as well. You have been an incredible blessing and support to your mom. Please take care of yourselves. You have my number, so keep in touch.
Happy Retirement, Jen!
May this next chapter be filled with joy, peace, good health, and all the blessings you have so freely poured into the lives of others. Your impact will be felt for many years to come.
