17 years ago, this guy, who happened to be tall (how tall? No one really knows), dared to dare.
He looked at his finance job and thought 🤔 what if I quit this perfectly stable career and take my chances at grilling?
As a finance guy, Dan understood numbers. He understood risk. And yet, he did it anyway. He dared to dare.
What started in 2009 with Dan, a grill, and a love of tailgating, eventually became Tall Guy and a Grill. Then came catering. Then weddings, galas, corporate events, an incredible team and, most recently, being named Milwaukee’s Best Caterer.
2009 Dan probably wouldn’t believe it. And to be honest, 2026 Dan is probably still a little surprised.
17 years later, we’re still here. Still grilling, cooking, and creating. Still growing. Still daring to dare.
Happy anniversary to Tall Guy and a Grill. And to Dan, for having the good sense to blow up a perfectly respectable finance career and go all in on a business idea with significantly worse odds of being successful. 🎉
