THE LDW SUNDAY CREW— AS WE CLOSE OUT THE WEEKEND please be kind to this crew tonight & our staff tomorrow! We are well staffed & treat our staff during LDW-they get extra pay all holiday weekend, but we ask YOU to extend your kindness and appreciation to them also.
We have a few retired scoopers making appearances this weekend to help us out & college staff that came home to take shifts. 🩷
Please be polite to our neighbors by not parking on the road & their grass or blocking their driveways & respectful to all the staff by respecting our 10pm closing procedure (we will cut the line off before close if necessary to shut doors at 10)

Three weeks from today we will close for the season. At this point we have said goodbye to half of our staff as they head back to college or begin their freshman year with all their excitement & angst.
It’s now all hands on deck. Some of us 👋🏻must push away from our desks and try to remember how to scoop balls of melting ice cream on narrow cone tops, or how to blend a perfect frappe while admiring the patience and skill that our order takers possess.
Our remaining staff is a mix of experienced and beginning scoopers, working in a fast paced environment.
We fortunately have a handful of older crew in their 20s who have found a way to return to us season after season because they make great money, but also because they have fun and know they are appreciated, respected & loved. How many of us can say that about our workplace?
Late August to mid September is a math equation none of us can resolve. The ratio is that we have too many customers:staff (always). Add gorgeous 80° days + a later than usual Labor Day.
We’re not sure how we continue to grow year over year at the rate we do when we change (by design) almost zilch, but we sure do and this season was a standout. The growth has been exponential in our 44th season - if you’re business savvy at all, that’ll make you scratch your head as much as it does us. We have our theories, but we believe there is some magic that this place holds! We are honored to be the current caretakers of this special institution and excited for it to continue creating memories for your families in the decades ahead. We love hearing about your special moments celebrated here.
A heartfelt thank you to all of our valued customers- not just for buying ice cream and (so much 🫣) merch but supporting us on socials, in our charitable fundraisers & in the community as a whole, we see you 🩷.
The biggest thanks goes to our AMAZING STAFF (those departed & those still here side by side us to the end)- for an exceptional (almost complete) 44th season!!

Well, closing day is only one month away, and we have already begun saying goodbyes to many of our college aged scoopers 🥹
As our staff continues to dwindle near the start of the school year, we want to ask your patience and understanding during your visits-we still have an incredible group of high schoolers here to serve you while they juggle classes, sports and other extracurricular activities, but please keep in mind that our staff is cut in half this time of year 🩷
This Sunday 8/23 will be our first 9pm close, and Monday 8/24 will begin 2pm open for weekdays! To view our hours for the next month, check out the “visit us” tab on our website!

Good news and bad news:
The bad news? No more Blueberry Crumble this season (this is out of our control and we are SO sorry to our BC fans 🤍)
The good news? Apple Pie is in the house! 🍎🥧
Apple Pie is a spiced apple ice cream with an apple pie filling swirl and bits of flakey pie crust! Confirmed delicious.

A bittersweet (mostly sweet🍦) last session of our children’s summer reading 📚 yesterday. We were delighted to end it with the much loved Ms.Allison, she draws quite a crowd.
We appreciate our other readers as well Mrs Hodge & Mrs Dixon.
This little diva stole the show with her ice cream dress, purse and matching pink accessories.
Also our much adored friend Theo getting his scoop after reading time from his sister (1st year scooper, Lily).
When we asked mom if it’s okay to use little diva’s photos she said “of course you’re her happy place” and we loved hearing that so much. 🩷🩷
