Tonight I just want to brag on my people and my little piece of home here in Wedowee. 💚☮️🐸
My mama brought us here 29 years ago, and she knew what she was doing.
Everybody sees the windows at Miss Amber’s Café & Toot’s Sweets and the work put in, but behind every little detail there are people, friendships, hard work, and neighbors helping neighbors.
Those beautiful dream catchers and hot air balloons everyone keeps asking about came from our friends at Wedowee Building Supply. Terry Wiley and the crew knew what we were trying to create and helped us bring some of their beauties into our shop. And we cannot leave out Mrs. Charlotte — for over 20 years she’s helped keep things running and still takes care of those boys every day by grabbing their lunch.
And I have to brag on Amanda too. She took time away from her paint department and personally helped me handpick every dream catcher. She didn’t just point me toward a shelf and send me on my way — she helped me choose pieces that fit exactly what we were trying to create. That kind of care means something.
That’s what we do around here.
Then there are Mrs. Carol and Mrs. Susan — the Perry sisters at Perryland. They work daylight to dark taking care of our community and keeping groceries on shelves for folks around town. Up front they have a little space with all kinds of treasures and hidden finds. You may have to dig a little, but honey, there are some gems in there! I’ve found flowers for my front window, handmade dish towels, aprons, and all kinds of little things I love.
My sweet friend Shasta down at The Crow’s Nest has had a beautiful boutique for years, and her precious mama, Ms. Elaine next door, has been a backbone of Main Street for over 40 years. We support each other daily with encouragement and love.
Start your morning with Mrs. Terri at Rocky Branch Nutrition with one of her loaded teas down at the end of the sidewalk! Vic and the girls at the hair shop keep us looking beautiful, and my precious Ms. Julie was sent straight from Heaven with her daily encouragement.
I cannot leave out my precious friend Brandee for jumping out on a limb for me day or night to help. One of the best parts of this journey is getting to work side by side with friends.
And in this adventure, I could never leave out my Deanna — my “Sis.” She helps me more than words can explain. She brings ideas, encouragement, hard work, and love into everything we do.
Most of all, my faith in Jesus has carried me through this journey over the last ten years. And I absolutely cannot leave out my kids, Toot and Levi, who walk through life beside me every single day — 24/7. They show up and show out daily for all of you. They make me laugh, make me crazy, and make every day better.
And guess what? The good Lord sent us another angel this year… her name is Tootie. 🩷 God knows what our family needs better than we do. Her warmth with every customer here and at the Mexican restaurant is contagious. She fits us like peanut butter and jelly.
I’m positive I left someone or something out, but we are so excited to be a sponsor for the sixth year in a row and continue making memories your families will never forget — just like my mama did when she brought me here all those years ago. Although I thought she was crazy back then, it ended up being exactly what I needed. 🩷
This little town is more than shops and businesses.
It’s family.
And I’m thankful for every single one of you. 💚
