At the beginning of this year, we knew we wanted to make some changes at Uptown. Not just for the sake of changing things, but to get back to what we do best. A lot of work and research happened behind the scenes. We looked at the numbers, sales, your reviews, and 20 years of figuring out what keeps people coming back.

And the numbers don’t lie.

You were ordering more burgers than steaks. More b**r than w**e. After 20 years of trying different menu items, specials, and ideas to be a little bit of everything to everyone, we finally asked ourselves… why fight it?

We’re a burger joint. And we’re pretty damn proud of it! 🍔🍺

They say the secret to success is doing ordinary things extraordinarily well. That’s always been our goal. We don’t need to have the biggest menu in town - we want to make the kind of burger that’s so good you’re already thinking about the next one before you leave!

So this year, our focus has been simple: take what you already love about Uptown and make it better. That meant switching to beef tallow for our fryers, giving the bar a fresh coat of paint, tackling some much-needed structural renovations, and making improvements throughout the building that might not always be exciting or noticeable, but matter when you plan on being around for another 20 years. It also means that the next time you stop in, you may notice a smaller, more focused menu.

If 20 years has taught us anything, it’s that bigger isn’t always better. A smaller menu allows us to put our time, energy, and ingredients into doing the things we’re known for - and doing them really, really well. We know we can’t be everything to everyone. And we’re okay with that. We’d rather be your favorite burger joint than just another restaurant with a 10-page menu.

So here’s to cold b**r, hot fries, great burgers, a bar with a few more years under its belt, and continuing to make Uptown better without changing what makes it Uptown.

We also wanted to give a special shout out to our awesome staff - past and present. We couldn’t make Uptown what it has become without your hard work and dedication. Thank you!
