What better time to announce the newest evolution of Drip and Culture than during Banned Books Week? It’s been a quiet dream of ours to find a way to sell books, and we are grateful to our newest partner, Commonplace Books, for helping make it happen.

Commonplace is a new women-owned, independent bookstore in Lake Zurich. We originally planned to sell our coffee in their space. However, after discussing our shared vision for our communities, we realized we could do more.

Starting this Friday, we will offer a curated selection of books for purchase here at the shop, sourced through Commonplace. We will also donate a percentage of our book sales to the Waukegan Public Library Foundation. We believe libraries and independent bookstores can shape communities for the better. Supporting both now is more important than ever.

If you have a book club or reading group that needs books, let us know. We want to be a source for you.

If you see one, eat one. Our kolaches are becoming a staple on our baking menu.

Growing up down South, kolaches were our favorite thing to eat whenever we visited family in Houston. Now, they’re famous across the South and we’re excited to share as a part of our expansion into baking.

Originally introduced in Texas when immigrants arrived from the Czech Republic, there are sweet and savory varieties of these treats. They’re a fresh baked dough stuffed with with meat, cheese, veggies, or fruits.

We currently have a black forest ham and gouda, carnitas with jalapeno and chihuahua cheese, and a chicken sausage with sharp cheddar for savory options.

Try one next time you’re in.
