Dear Customers of Connection Café
We appreciate your faithful patronage! We want you to know in advance that we will be temporarily closing the café, from August 21 to the first week in October. This will only affect the café. The Laundromat will be open its normal hours.
We are closing due to the current Covid 19 crisis and the divisiveness caused by the Governor’s recent executive order mandating the wearing of masks. We have customers that believe strongly in the wearing of masks and we have customers that believe strongly in not wearing masks. Unfortunately, this division is intensifying and we are not the mask police. Sadly, the Governor’s mandate has caused this division by
1. Wording the order in such a way that many county sheriffs have declared publicly that they will not enforce the mandate.
2. Exempting himself, and all in the government and judicial offices, therefore giving themselves the permission to construct their own policies.
We could speak to those who tell us to wear masks about the rights we have not to wear a mask. On the other hand, we could make our staff and all of our customers wear a mask, even though they don’t want to, or cannot, due to a health issue. I personally witnessed a large chain store deny check out service to a customer who was not wearing a mask. They would not process his purchases until he put on a mask, even though he had stated that there was a health issue involved. In addition, members of our staff have experienced unpleasant exchanges concerning this mask issue, which they do not deserve at all.
We will not be used as an apparatus to activate this division in our community. Again, we appreciate all of our customers and have decided to temporarily remove ourselves from this situation.
We look forward to serving you in October.
Sincerely,
Mike and Tami Cederberg
