We can overthink sending a simple message.
Maybe they're busy.
Maybe I will bother them.
Maybe we haven't spoken in too long.
Maybe it will feel awkward.
So we almost say nothing.
Then we send, "Hey, I was thinking about you. Hope you're doing okay."
It takes twenty seconds.
We have no idea what kind of day that message lands in.
Maybe it is an ordinary day and they simply smile.
Maybe it arrives when they really needed to know somebody remembered them.
That is what makes small acts of care interesting.
We measure them by how little effort they required from us.
The other person measures them by how much they needed one.
