For thousands of years, humans visited the guy down the way for produce.
In recent time, convenience has stolen so much from society, yourself, and your peers.
It has left us with new illnesses, lies about what your eating, and ultra processed foods.
Due to a lack of sales Ive done a few things I never expected during harvest season.
-Lay-offs and terminations.
-thrown out more then sold (by weight).
-wont pay the labor to pick for donations.
-downsized farmers markets.
And
-posted about it. . .
It saddens me, not going to lie.
Theres big news in the future, if we get there.
I dont wanna bring up the theift, but theres that. A gentleman tried to walk away without paying yesterday, in front of me while I was stocking.
All of which, kinda does bring down my motivation, so I went out and cut flowers this morning. Always cheers me up. Pennhill watermelon dahlia, fully open in all of her glory. *Available on the farmstand this morning.
Thankfully my other businesses and decades of hard work, keep me a float during these times.
However that's doesnt really stop the agreements ive made to support others through my sales.
Sashabaw is closed next year. For those of you who didnt know, the bridge from the 20s is being replaced. Which means no farmstand sales, I am looking for host locations ;-).
Im planning on starting pumpkins next weekend, with a giant knot in my stomach.
If ever you planned on visiting. Please stop by this harvest season.
Thanks for coming to listen to me vent. Have a wonderful afternoon.
