⛈️ STORM UPDATE — THE CHICKEN PLACE WATAUGA ⛈️
Apparently the chickens saw the storm coming and decided it was finally time to fly the coop. 🐔💨
Unfortunately, they took most of our sign with them. 😳
All joking aside, a powerful, fast-moving storm came through our little stretch of Watauga this evening and left behind some significant damage. As you can see from the photos, The Chicken Place sign on Rufe Snow definitely lost its battle with Mother Nature — but after seeing the damage around us, we feel incredibly fortunate.
Some of our neighbors were hit much harder. Monty’s Auto lost its sign, and DEKRA Emissions, Safety & Oil Change sustained significant damage. Our thoughts are with our neighboring businesses and everyone affected as they assess the damage and begin putting things back together.
Most importantly, everyone at The Chicken Place is safe, and aside from our now considerably more “open-air” sign, we did not sustain any other significant damage. For that, we are extremely thankful.
Unfortunately, our Watauga location is currently without power, there is a downed power line in the area, and Rufe Snow Drive is shut down in both directions.
For everyone’s safety:
🚨 THE CHICKEN PLACE — WATAUGA WILL BE CLOSED FOR THE REMAINDER OF THIS EVENING. 🚨
We currently plan to REOPEN TOMORROW AT 11:00 AM for normal business, provided power has been restored and the area is safe and accessible.
And because this page represents BOTH of our The Chicken Place locations, we want to make one thing especially clear:
🍗 THE CHICKEN PLACE — MARLIN IS UNAFFECTED AND OPEN FOR BUSINESS! 🍗
We also want to give a HUGE THANK YOU to the City of Watauga, Watauga Police Department, Watauga Fire Department, utility crews, first responders, law enforcement and everyone else who responded so quickly and continues working to keep people safe, secure the area, clear the roads and restore power.
The photos show some of these men and women already hard at work in the aftermath of the storm. When something like this happens, we’re reminded how fortunate we are to have people willing to run toward the problem and get to work when the rest of us need them most.
THANK YOU for taking care of our community. ❤️🚒🚓⚡
And to our customers, thank you for your patience, understanding and continued support. We hate having to close our doors, even for a few hours, but tonight there are things much more important than selling chicken.
Signs can be replaced. Buildings can be repaired. We’re just thankful everyone is safe.
📍 MARLIN — Come on over! We’re open and ready to see you. 🍗
📍 WATAUGA — We’ll round up those chickens, rebuild their coop, get the lights back on and get those fryers hot again. 😂🐔
We plan to see you tomorrow at 11:00 AM!
Stay safe, everyone, and thank you from all of us at The Chicken Place. ❤️🍗
