Today marks Northside Diner’s 2nd Anniversary.

Two years ago, we opened the doors to a building that had sat empty for 18 years and took a chance on a dream.

Since then, this community has welcomed us, supported us, and made Northside more than we ever imagined it could be.

To our customers, our staff, and everyone who has believed in us: thank you. We wouldn’t be here without you.

This is just a little sneak peek of the beautiful images she captured of Northside Diner—there are many more to come, and we can’t wait to share them with you. From our cozy booths to the warm glow of our dining room, Essie perfectly captured the charm we love so much.

And while we have your attention… it’s been a little quiet around here this week, so maybe you haven’t heard the news:

⭐ Lakefront New Grist Gluten-Free Pilsner

If you’re gluten-free, we’re especially excited about the New Grist. Pair it with one of our gluten-free tenderloins or a gluten-free crispy chicken sandwich and you’ve got an awesome meal that’s surprisingly hard to find anywhere else.

Meet our newest summer sips:

🍒 Cherry-Rose Dirty Soda
Cherry soda + heavy cream + rose syrup, topped with whipped cream and rose petals 🌹

🍓 Strawberry Rose Shake
Strawberry ice cream blended with milk and rose syrup, finished with whipped cream, rose petals, and pistachios 💕

We sourced the organic rose petals from our wonderful neighbors around the corner, The Emporium -Washington Iowa — and if you haven’t stopped in there yet, you absolutely should! They’re packed with local handmade art, organic teas, and all kinds of unique treasures.

Come cool off with something refreshing, fruity, and floral… and let one of these smiling faces serve you a little summer in a cup ☀️🥤

Our neighbors at Iron & Ivy spoiled us with this gorgeous planter, and we love it 💙🌿

We recently made a few purchases there (as usual 😅) and this beautiful gift came home with us. Honestly, every time we walk into Iron & Ivy we find something we can’t leave without — antiques, collectibles, unique finds, gently used treasures… they’ve got a little bit of everything.

The owner is incredibly kind and helpful, and somehow manages to run the shop in addition to working a full-time job. Small business owners are superheroes, truly.

If you haven’t stopped in yet, we highly recommend popping by! And while you’re on our side of the square, don’t miss GunnySac Designs, Earthly Blessings, and Lynn & Shelby’s Home Decor & More either. We’re lucky to be surrounded by such wonderful local businesses 💛
