The United Way was started over a century ago in Denver, Colorado by a woman (Frances Wisebart Jacobs), a priest, two ministers, and a rabbi. A diverse group of people, committed to the same cause; helping those in need.💖

Today, The United Way touches lives with grants and the famous 2-1-1 Helpline. They assist our youth, and focus on financial security, disaster recovery, the health of communities and their members.

Anytime they ask for The Mulberry’s support, we are more than happy to oblige.👐

Recently, Sue approached us about needs we see in the community. We could easily tell her the need that we see from our little Mulberry community.

A “living wage” is becoming something that is difficult to grasp. Housing rates are rising, groceries are more and more expensive while coming in smaller packages. The best option as business owners is to give our employees raises, but what are they supposed to do when their car breaks down unexpectedly, the ceiling falls in, or DHHS benefits are ripped from their families? 💔

Sue took this information and turned it into an incredible idea.

What if we had a Stability Fund that would provide stipends and grants to employees, at the request of their employer?

A.L.I.C.E. is the acronym that The United Way uses to describe a vulnerable population in our community. It stands for Asset Limited, Income Constrained, (while being) Employed. These are the people who cook for you, serve you in restaurants, work at cash registers, clean and maintain our facilities and get our kids on the bus.

These are individuals who swim against the current. Whose arms and legs are tired from fighting so hard against the waves.🌊 They need a leg up. They need a blessing.

The United Way has a challenge for all of us; to raise $100,000 in 100 days in order to get this Stability Fund rolling. Below is a link to donate and make this dream a reality for our neighbors. Thank you for your love, care and contribution.

And that's part of what we love about the food he produces; it's fresh, locally sourced, tastes down right delicious and doesn't leave you feeling guilty. 🙏

At last week's W**e Dinner, guests had the chance to taste his charred watermelon and goat cheese concoction, Ahi Tuna with pepperoncini and olives app, cozy roasted porchetta and a pie that makes you down right DESPERATE! His famous Southern Desperation pie. 🤤

Thank you to our super cool guests for attending! You are the best and we are so grateful for your support.🤗

Thank you to Lexi who made the event run as smooth as buttermilk, and for Matt from Coastal Bev for making the night feel like a magically exclusive event.

Check out our lacey pancakes, breakfast burger or savory shrimp 'n grits. I bet we have somethin' to suit your fancy!

Brunch is served Saturday and Sunday from 9am-3pm.
