We have to close unexpectedly today (Wednesday June 24) and tomorrow at our Firefly Location in Bar Harbor.

We had to close today as we didn't have enough stock to get through the day. We make our product every day of the week fresh, so this obviously puts us in a precarious position at times.

This is not something we anticipate happening often - but sometimes the stars align perfectly or imperfectly in this case.
Our batch freezer broke down, and while we were able to fix it, it put us behind.

It pains us to be closed in the height of summer, but in order to get back on track we decided to make the difficult decision to close these two days.

As always - we appreciate our customers so we are very sorry for any inconvenience this may cause!

Mount Desert Island Ice Cream has added a new location in Hakuba, Nagano, Japan!

We have partnered with The Gakusui (https://gakusui-hakuba.com/en/) to open a new pop-up in their lobby. We'll be there indefinately for now - through the summer and next winter.

Many thanks to The Gakusui for their partnership. BTW - they offer understated but cozy lodging with ski storage, easy access to the ski fields, and a great restaurant and bar in the lobby.

*For those not familiar with the Hakuba area, it was the location for many of the Nagano '98 Winter Olympic events.*
