5-12 Dessert Boutique & Lounge (founded in 2014) is the brainchild of mother-daughter duo Daneen Heath (Owner, Head of Business Operations, & Special Events Planner) & Tai Heath (Owner, Head Cake Artist & Pastry Chef) 5-12 creates artistically designed custom cake and dessert creations out of two commericial kitchen's...the Mess Hall Community Kitchen in NE DC and the Confectionary Kitchen of Waldorf, in Waldorf, MD.

WELL...THE PEOPLE HAVE SPOKEN! 😂🍨
After a very spirited family debate and engagement from both our Instagram + Facebook family, it looks like Chef Tai was right...Butter Pecan DOES have an age! 😂😂
It appears that Uncs & Aunties have Butter Pecan on LOCKDOWN! 😂 Even some of Team Mom admitted that they're part of the Unc & Auntie crew. 🤣
That being said, Mom will respectfully accept the results...while enjoying her pint of Butter Pecan, which will probably be the first of our Runback Flavors to sell out. 😂
Seriously though, THANK YOU to everyone who engaged, commented and joined in on our little family debate. We had fun reading your responses!
And now that we've settled that important piece of business...😂

Summer has pretty much come to an end so you know what that means...Our ice cream and sorbet flavor run back is on its way.
But before we release the flavors and open pre-orders, we need y'all to help settle a family debate 👀🍨.
Does Butter Pecan have an age? 😂
Apparently, Butter Pecan has caused a little division in the 5-12 Dessert family.
Mom's position: Everybody eats Butter Pecan...Young, old...doesn’t matter. It’s a classic. Period. 😂
Chef Tai — along with a few of the younger members of the family — strongly disagrees. According to them, young people are NOT out here eating Butter Pecan ice cream.
So we're taking it to our Instagram family...
TEAM MOM vs. TEAM CHEF TAI
Does Butter Pecan have an age? 😂
TEAM MOM: NO — Butter Pecan has no age!🍨
TEAM CHEF TAI: YES — That’s somebody’s Unc/Auntie's or GiGi/PopPop's ice cream! 😂
Side note before you vote...BUTTER PECAN WAS OUR #1 SELLING ICE CREAM OF THE SUMMER! 🏆
And yes...our Butter Pecan customers included both younger and older ice cream lovers.
Now, in the interest of full disclosure...were most of them a little more seasoned? Maybe. 😂😂 But that's NOT the point.😂😂

it’s been awhile since we’ve done Friday Introductions so for all our new faces...
We’re Daneen & Chef Tai...mom+daughter and co-owners of 5-12 Dessert & The Baker's Lab at 5-12 Dessert located in the DMV.
We apparently can’t get enough of each other since we live and run a business together. Are we crazy or what? Would you spend this much time with your mom?🤔😉.
We actually love each other to pieces and have A LOT in common. We’re both creatives, have a GREAT love for family, the color 🧡 orange, ice cream🍨 and all things girlie. And we're often told we look just alike...can you see the resemblance😉.
And there's more...we can’t get enough of fury little pups (including our wild and crazy Cavapoo NOVA), we're both big fans of the POWER Universe...we're still mourning the death of Uncle Marvin on Raising Kanan😢. And we absolutely love all things Taylor Sheridan...Yellowstone, Dutton Ranch, Landman, Lioness. Anyone else?📺🎥🎬🥰
With all this alikeness what we love most are celebrations 🎉🥳 and providing a one-of-kind celebration experience featuring artistically designed custom cakes, handcrafted cookies, and signature desserts inspired and created by us or edible creations baked and/or decorated by you!
