Happy hump day!!! Here’s a picture of me in my natural habitat...Actually, that’s not true. My real natural habitat would be me eating cookies in the kitchen rather than making them lol.
👩🏻🍳I figured it’s well past time for me to formally introduce myself! I’m Katie - Owner, baker, and everything in between of
👩🏻⚕️Four years ago I was diagnosed with Celiac disease. Shortly after, I went vegan overnight after watching , in attempts to heal my body from chronic stomach problems and other aches and pains.
🍩I started Somethin’ Sweet 2 1/2 years ago when it was practically impossible to find gluten free vegan sweets that were easily accessible and delicious. (Prior to this, I had made donuts exactly one time in my life, 7 years ago, and they weren’t great.) So on my birthday in 2018, all I wanted were donuts: gluten free vegan donuts. And I couldn’t find them anywhere in the DC area. So, I took it upon myself to figure them out!
😫I HATE going somewhere and feeling left out because there aren’t any delicious options for my dietary preferences (I mean, it’s 2021 people🤦🏻♀️). I really wanted to create sweets for anyone with any allergies or dietary preferences to look at my menu and get excited over all the options of amazing sweets they can have! I’m always up for the challenge of creating new things for different dietary preferences, so don’t hesitate to ask for something off the menu (that’s how my cake pops AND Keto/Paleo- friendly donuts came to be🙃)- I can’t make any promises but I’ll definitely try😇
🚘Since Somethin’ sweet is a part-time, home bakery in Northern VA, and I work a full-time job during the day, I’ve recently updated my pickup/delivery process AND I just got the red warning that my caption is getting too long lol so I’ll post the rest in my stories!
If you’re reading this, thanks for making it to the end!!
