Celebrate Oktoberfest at The Roost as we transform Shelter and our patio into a Bavarian Beer Hall & Garden! From 12PM-5PM, we toast the holiday with a bevy of Bavarian-style beers, food specials, and contests!

In honor of the occasion, Shelter is pouring a total of 12 German-style festbiers, including 2 Bluejacket beers from countertop gravity casks! Plus, we’ll have Bavarian-inspired specials from Red Apron, and The Alpine Players will be on hand playing live Oompah music (1PM-4PM) throughout the hall. For those daring enough to try, there will be a stein-holding competition with special prizes to the strongest among us (including a version for kids with smaller mugs of water), and costume contests for kids, pets, and adults!

Join us at The Roost for a walk-around tasting and bottle sale of 30 of our favorite wines from ancient growing regions!

In the wine industry, we talk a lot about Old World vs New World. Old World being the European wine regions that started making wine under the cultural and political influence of the Ancient Roman Empire, and New World being the wine regions where those grapes were spread in the next era. But many wine experts and historians are now pointing out that there was a vast wine industry and tradition well before the Roman Empire. People have been making world-class wines in countries such as Croatia, Georgia, Lebanon, Greece, Armenia, and Ukraine for literal millenia, and those wine cultures still exist today.

We’re gathering some of the best DC wine distributors at The Roost to share some of our favorite wines made in these incredibly historic wine regions, both in old traditional methods and in modern innovative winemaking techniques! Join us on October 18th for a walk-around tasting featuring 30 ultra-fine wines crafted sustainably in the Ancient World!

🍺Join The Roost on Friday, August 28th, for a special food & beer pairing event featuring Hill Farmstead Brewery and special guest Bob Montgomery!

🍺Founded in 2010 by Shaun Hill on his ancestral land in Greensboro, Vermont, Hill Farmstead is one of the most celebrated breweries in the world. Known for its elegant, expressive beers, and deep sense of place, the brewery embodies generations of family history and a dedication to craftsmanship.

🍺This event pairs 10 of Hill Farmstead’s remarkable beers with 10 dishes from The Roost’s full lineup of vendors. All beers and pairings will be available a la carte, so you can choose-your-own-adventure! Bob Montgomery, a longtime member of the brewery’s leadership team and one of its most knowledgeable voices, will be hanging out to talk about their beers and share stories about the brewery.

Everywhere was founded in 2022 by Jeremy Grinkey, Daniel Muñoz, Stefan Weber, and Keith Pumilia, who all met working together at The Bruery. Inspired by their combined 40+ years of brewing and winemaking experience, the team set out to create beers that are both approachable and high-quality. Their ethos is to be welcoming, inclusive, and centered on fostering conversation and connection.

Join Shelter on Thursday, July 23rd, as we celebrate Smokebeer Preservation Day 2026! This yearly tradition is a public holiday in Bamberg–the epicenter of Germany’s smoked beer culture! It marks the day in 1635 on which the first smoke-free malt-drying machine was patented. For this special day, we will pour 6 classic smoked beers from Schlenkerla (officially called Heller-Bräu Trum).

That turning point in beer history sparked the rise in popularity of smoke-free beers, with a few exceptions such as those produced at Schlenkerla. By toasting to their assortment of rauchbiers, we aim to help preserve the style, even as technology and tastes have changed since that date almost 400 years ago.

Don’t miss your chance to try this special lineup of 6 drafts–all from the most famous smoked beer brewery in the world.

Join us for a one-night-only New England Fest as we bring the flavors of the Northeast to our food hall!

From buttery lobster rolls and smoky bluefish dip to crispy cod fritters and our Vermont-inspired Sap Dog glazed with rich maple flavor, this menu is packed with coastal classics and regional favorites. We'll also be serving a decadent clam pie loaded with fresh clams, mozzarella, and gremolata breadcrumbs, plus sweet treats like apple cider donuts.

Pair it all with festive cocktails like The Maine Event—featuring apple brandy, maple, cranberry, and Maine blueberry sparkling wine. We will also feature nine beers from the region. Come celebrate the best of New England without leaving town!
