August is National Black Business Month. It's also the month Ben's Chili Bowl turns 68!

Washington, D.C. has one of the highest concentrations of Black-owned businesses in the country, and Ben's has been part of that since 1958, when Ben and Virginia Ali opened our doors on U Street.

Ben Ali Way was the site of this week's World Steelpan Day celebration, hosted by the Mayor's Office on Caribbean Community Affairs. The event honored the Caribbean Washingtonians who brought steelpan to DC, a tradition close to home for Ben's Chili Bowl since founder Ben Ali was born in Trinidad. Congratulations to the community members who received certificates of merit for their contributions!
