Hello Monday. We are glad you here.
All of the making love yesterday in Mount Pleasant is now part of the Mount Pleasant story. The love is mutual. I thank you.

Small, local businesses thrive and and survive because of their communities that support them. The money you spend in these businesses mostly stay within the community in which they exist. If you write Mount Pleasant on a $20 bill and spend it in the hood, there is a good chance you will see that bill again. It's Sunday and we are glad you are here. Our special today is a bowl with black beans, brown rice, melted cheese, greens, fried egg and sour cream. We love you Mount Pleasant and we'll see you in the hood. Enjoy your day and them some. Thank you.

Every year, around this time, many DC students come to Mount Pleasant for school projects about gentrification, the Cinco de Mayo riots and about our neighborhood. They interview the businesses owners and longtime residents about our local history. We now pass the torch to each of you to be the storytellers of Mount Pleasant and to tell them about what is like to experience Dos Gringos. It's Saturday and we are glad you are here. Our special today is a veggie chili and brown rice bowl with greens, fried egg, pico de gallo and a warm flour tortilla. Try your best to be your best and we'll see you in Mount Pleasant.

It's Friday and we are glad you are here. Our special today is roasted eggplant, baby potatoes, peppers, mushrooms and onions served over brown rice with fried egg, horseradish sauce and a warm flour tortilla. Daily specials have always been a good bang for your buck. We plan the dish each day to be a balanced meal that folks would like. We hope you like and we'll see you in Mount Pleasant.

The connections made at Dos Gringos will never go away. There will be that feeling you will get once you see a fellow regular. You might not know their name, but you know them. Give a smile and a nod those connections will live on. Happy Thursday. Our special today is veggie chili and sweet potato sliders with melted cheese and pickles. Eat fun and be fun and we'll see you in Mount Pleasant. Have yourself a good day.

It's Wednesday and Earth Day. Just as Mother's Day approaches, we celebrate Mother Earth. We appreciate how you have given us life, nurish and sustain us. Sometimes we take you for granted, but hope to try harder and will be more thoughtful. Our special today is refried beans on garlic toast with fried egg and pico de gallo and served over arugula greens with Dos Gringos dressing. Don't take your mother for granted. Don't take anything for granted. We don't in Mount Pleasant and we hope you all enjoy your day.

We're doing it. We are having another day that we hope is a good one. We've got good food for our good people to fuel that day. Our special today is a plate with lentils, sweet potatoes, brown rice, parmesan cheese and pico de gallo served with a warm flour tortilla. Make your own burrito or enjoy eating with a tortilla. We're making extra for you today. Yes, you can freeze and re heat our burritos and veggie chili. It is chilly today, but we will stay warm and see you in Mount Pleasant.

It's Sunday and we are glad you are here. We are super psyched about today's special because we think you will like. Veggie chili sliders with pickles, spinach and fried egg. Fun, filling and good for you food. Our veggie chili has 3 types of beans, mushrooms, peppers, TVP (textured vegetable protein) and love. We dish out love and you consume. Weather will be weather, but we think there will always be sunshine in Mount Pleasant. Enjoy your day.

April 2026
At the end of this month, Dos Gringos will serve our last Primo Avocado Sandwich and close our doors. It’s a good thing. For 26 years, it has been our privilege to open our doors and serve our Mount Pleasant Community.
It has been our mission to provide tasty, affordable, non processed food. The people of the Mount Pleasant community made that into something more. The closing of the Cafe opens the opportunity for a new, independent business to serve this resilient neighborhood. Coming soon is La Lucha, sandwiches & more by Chad Henry. La Lucha aims to honor many of the Dos Gringos values that made the space special. It will continue the tradition of being an accessible, welcoming gathering place—including beloved touches like $1 coffee—while building on that foundation with fresh, locally sourced ingredients and affordable, healthy, and delicious food. Though this might be an end of one chapter, it is also the start of the next part of the Mount Pleasant Story. Viva Mount Pleasant. I, Alex Kramer am forever grateful for your love, support and loyalty that has enabled me to live a life with value.

A Union organizer, a GreenPeace staffer and a housing advocate walk into Dos Gringos and struck up conversation ....
No, not a start of a joke, just what happened yesterday morning.
