Everyday Sundae

09/11/2026

Tonight, Butter Pecan premieres at Everyday Sundae as part of Art All Night DC.

Come see it in person and experience the story behind the work.

Jahmal’s lifelong love of ice cream is part of the inspiration behind Butter Pecan, but the piece goes deeper, exploring memory, history, and the complicated story of ice cream flavors in America.

The work is also deeply personal. Textiles and beads belonging to his late mother, DC artist Cynthia Sands, are incorporated into the piece, carrying her memory and their shared creative history into the work.
