A BIG THANK YOU TO BEN!
As summer winds down, we’re saying goodbye — at least as a full-time employee — to one of the originals at the Steel Horse.
Ben has been with us since day one. And from day one, this kid could cook.
Burgers, steaks, Cajun pasta — or a kitchen completely buried in tickets — Ben just put his head down and got it done. There were nights he handled that kitchen practically by himself, worked his way through one hell of a rush, and somehow kept putting out great food.
Go back and read some of our reviews from that first year. People were raving about the food then just like they are today, and Ben deserves a big piece of that credit.
But Ben brought a lot more than cooking. He showed up. He worked hard. He stayed positive. He had fun. And when things got crazy, he didn’t run from it — he dug in and did whatever it took to get the job done.
Saturday was Ben’s last night as he starts a new career with Upper Lakes Foods, our main food distributor, and we’re genuinely excited to see what comes next for him. And knowing Ben, I’m pretty sure we’ll still see him around the Steel Horse from time to time.
Ben, thank you for everything you did to help us build this place.
You were here from the beginning, and your fingerprints will always be on the Steel Horse. You’re part of what made this place what it is today — a little different, a little unexpected, and always willing to Dare to Be Different.
And to everyone who remembers “Come in and say MAVERICK to Ben and get a buck off” — yep, Maverick is officially leaving the flight deck. 😂
Go kick ass in the next chapter, buddy. You deserve it.
