Cook friends:
One of my pet peeves… when your people buy “regular people Saran Wrap/cling wrap” instead of the good stuff from the Sam’s Club or Restaurant Depot, but then also destroy the box when opening it so it is a constant source of agrivation during cleanup. I’m hearing, “Why ate you slamming around?” from the other room. “Nothing Dear!”

There’s a better way. I know there’s a better way.
Done venting.

I just got home from first cooking the O-Town Showdown Saturday, near Tulsa, Ok, through a pretty serious thunderstorm. The judges weren’t loving my steak. I tried using duck fat for the first time and killed my taste score. Then Sunday I went up to another SCA competition, the Honoring our Heroes Steak Competition in Springfield, Mo. Redeemed myself a little and walked 10th out of 28 of some of the best streak cooks in the country. It was a great weekend and we supported good causes. As always I used Oakridge BBQ rubs. Thank you Cherri Cochran Brown for your patients and support. ❤️

I stopped in Indiana on the way home, for another SCA steak competition, after working in Indiana and Ohio all week.

Not the best finish. The steaks were about 3 pounds a piece. I’m not even kidding. They were huge. It was a really quick turn around too. We selected about 6:30ish (42 cooks). Turn-in was 7:30. I was tired and skipped one step and dropped to the middle of the pack. (24th out of 42). All my scores suffered. Still, fun was had by all. that was the first time cooking a competition in the Hoosier State. Congratulations Matt Ouverson on another 1st place finish.
Thank you Oakridge BBQ for the continued support.

Cooked the Scheels SCA double competition in Overland Park today. We got a 10th place walk in the first contest and 6th in the second contest. It was good for $200 in prize money and Scheels gave $2000 to OBR! Thank you Oakridge BBQ for your continued support!

We received this in the mail this week. Apparently we earned it a couple weeks ago in Kansas City. It’s our Golden Ticket to the SCA World Steak Championship in Fort Worth in October! I think I’m addicted to steak competitions! Those Oakridge BBQ rubs helped me win a invitation our first weekend out.

Round 2 steak competition of the NBBQA weekend is in the books. We had a real good cook and managed 2nd place. Thank you Oakridge BBQ. Your rubs are fantastic! Congratulations Joey Machado of B&B Charcoal on the first place win. And thank you for the free bag of charcoal!

I picked last in line for my 2 steaks, but I ended up with decent picks.
