Hey, itās me apologizing on Facebook again for the second time in one week š¤¦š¼āāļø Weāre sorry to have disappointed people tonight when we sold out of dough. And we totally get it - you were planning on having pizza for dinner and you had to figure out something else, maybe you drove out of your way to come tonight, or maybe you even stood in line for a while. Your disappointment is valid. We even had to refund a couple of people š© Ugh how embarrassing. That was the first time weāve EVER oversold pizzas and it was an awful realization that we never want to experience again.
But thereās something else I think needs to be said.
If youāre attending a fundraiser, we hope youāre there to support the organization just like we are. The marching band did an amazing job advertising, and it resulted in a huge turnout. That meant long lines, long waits, and an early sell-out. Most people were incredibly patient and understood that a huge turnout means a successful fundraiser. A few people were not so kind.
We do fundraisers because we genuinely care about our community. They cost the organization nothing, and we donate hundreds of dollars back to them simply because weāre happy to invest in organizations that align with our interests and values. Being disappointed that you didnāt get pizza is one thing. And like we said, itās valid. But being nasty to the people who are donating their time and money to help raise funds for the organization you came to support is another.
When we sold out tonight, someone actually asked us to take their $1 tip out of the tip jar and give it back to them so it wouldnāt be donated to the marching band š¤Æ Moments like this make us question whether fundraisers are worth the stress. We want these events to be a positive experience for everyone, including the people working them. If doing fundraisers is going to leave us feeling awful and defeated, then we may have to rethink doing them.
That being said, we really do feel terrible that we sold out with an hour left in the fundraiser tonight. We know that some people came specifically to support the band and were disappointed that they didnāt get pizza, and we are genuinely sorry for that. The good news is that the turnout was amazing! Weāre already working with the band to come up with another date so we can try this again with more dough, more help, and hopefully enough pizza for everyone.
