The weekend has been a busy one so far, with only a short intermission from the storms.

This member had a passenger with a minor medical issue while on board and, at the same time, lost steering. Rather than delay things by towing the vessel, Capt. Walt (an EMT) transferred from his vessel quickly assessed the injury and safely operated the boat, bringing it to Lighthouse Marina

Once safely at the marina, the injured person was assisted off the vessel so they could receive further medical treatment.

Another example of why having experienced local professionals on the water can make all the difference. When you need us, we’re there. 🚤⚓️

Floatchella at Tices Shoal kept our crew busy all weekend!

From assisting boaters in need to responding to numerous service calls, our captains were on the water ensuring everyone got home safely. We appreciate everyone who trusted Sea Tow Central New Jersey when they needed a helping hand.

We’d also like to take a moment to wish one of our own, Captain Joe, a very Happy Birthday! Thank you for your dedication, professionalism, and everything you do for our members and the boating community. We hope you had a fantastic day—even if you spent most of it helping others!

We also would like to thank the NUMEROUS other law enforcement, fire, EMS, and other agencies that helped keep boaters safe this weekend.

As always, boat safe, wear your life jackets, and remember we’re just a call away if you need us.

⚠️ Boater Safety Alert – Slow Down Around Dredge Operations ⚠️

Folks, we cannot stress this enough…

Captain Walt’s signature saying has always been: “Slow is Pro. Fast is A$$.”

Over the last 48 hours, numerous vessels have struck dredge pipe. Dredge operations are constantly changing. You may safely transit an area one way in the morning, only to find the entire configuration has changed by the time you return.

Please remember:
• Slow down in and around dredge operations.
• Monitor and use your VHF radio to communicate with the dredge and other vessels.
• If you’re unsure of the route, stop.
• When in doubt… STOP.

A few extra minutes is far better than damaging your boat, putting your passengers at risk, or becoming another accident statistic.

Slow is Pro. Fast is A$$. Stay alert, stay patient, and let’s keep everyone safe on the water.

There is active dredging in the Barnegat Bay in the Cedar Run Channel. The marked pipeline runs west to east from Cedar Run Channel across the State Navigation Channel and the ICW to Flat Island near LBI. Approximately 23,000 feet of pipeline is deployed and marked with lit pencil buoys, Norwegian buoys and channel marker crossing buoys. There are 3 marked crossings with red and green buoys for safe transfer over the pipeline.

Pipelines can be difficult to see and may traverse areas outside of marked channels traditionally used by local boaters. The public are advised to be aware and use extreme caution when operating around marked pipelines and should stay away from all floating equipment. Use slow/no wake speeds when passing equipment and use channel 63 to contact the equipment as necessary.

Beach Haven West!!!!

In cooperation with USFW and the NJDEP, the marsh restoration of Popular Point at the Edwin B. Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge is underway.

The construction of the reef at Popular Point has been completed and dredging of the Mill Creek has commenced. You may have already seen the barges and dredge equipment in place. The dredging will start at the mouth of Mill Creek and work up stream. The dredging equipment and barges will be on location until the project is completed. The corners of all equipment will be marked with flashing white lights when not in use.

As a reminder, please maintain a slow speed with no wake and using caution when operating your boat in and around Mill Creek with the dredging operation in progress. All dredges and tugs monitor VFH channel 79.

If you have any questions or concerns, there will be a supervisor or a superintendent on location during all normal operations. Thank you for your cooperation.

It’s been another busy week for the crew aboard Sea Tow 41, a retired USCG 41 UTB Hull #41485.

From assisting a member with an inshore tow, to welcoming the Junior Police Academies (over 100 kids) from Stafford Township Police Department, Barnegat Police Department and Ocean Township Police Department,
aboard Sea Tow 41 for tours, it has been a week full of service to both the boating and local communities. Every junior recruit also donned a life jacket provided by the Sea Tow Foundation, helping reinforce the importance of boating safety from an early age.

The week also included an urgent responses, first a vessel that lost power 5 miles from the inlet in gnarly conditions to a vessel that lost power in the channel near Barnegat Lighthouse, where our crew quickly responded to get the vessel and its occupants to safety.

Whether we’re responding to emergencies, assisting members, or educating the next generation, we’re proud to be there when we’re needed most.
