Notice the venue has changed. The Symphony will be at the Wamego Football Stadium not Downtown at the Park. Let's pack the house Friday evening!

VENUE CHANGE!!! - Symphony in the Park

The multiple rounds of rain haven't been super forgiving to the grass in Wamego City Park. With standing water in low areas, we don't want to create extra work for our City Crews who have been hard at work with storm clean up the past several days, and hosting it in our beautiful park just isn't possible.

So to make seating, parking and access easier due to all the rain, we will be moving Symphony in the Park to the Wamego High School Football Stadium. A huge thanks to Wamego High School - USD 320 for making this happen.

The MHK Symphony has an amazing set ready to go. And we are still beyond excited to host their performance.

-Admission is still FREE
-Food and Beverage from Friendship House will still be available
-Gates open at 6
-Symphony plays at 7

We'll see you Friday at the Football Stadium!

*NO ALCOHOL IS ALLOWED ON SCHOOL PROPERTY

There will be an open house at the Wamego Community and Senior Center June 22nd at 4:30 to talk Highway 24 Corridor plans.

🗓️KDOT hosting open houses for U.S. 24 corridor study in Riley, Pottawatomie counties

The Kansas Department of Transportation will host two open houses to provide information on the U.S. 24 Corridor Management Plan (CMP) in Riley and Pottawatomie counties.

Both open houses will present the same information, and KDOT project team members will be available to answer questions and gather public input. No formal presentations will be given; attendees may come and go at any time during the events.

Meeting times and locations:
• Monday, June 22, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.: Wamego Senior & Community Center, 501 Ash Street in Wamego
• Tuesday, June 23, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.: CiCo Park – Pottorf Hall, 1710 Avery Avenue in Manhattan

The proposed CMP will update the 2009 Pottawatomie County study that evaluated U.S. 24 from Manhattan to Wamego; and extend the study corridor north to the U.S. 77/U.S. 24 junction in Riley County.

The plan will evaluate current and future traffic operations in Riley and Pottawatomie counties and identify potential improvements to enhance safety and efficiency along the corridor.

Information presented at the open houses will be available on the project website on Monday, June 22. The public can also complete a survey and submit comments through July 8 by visiting ksdot.gov/US24-Riley-Pott.

🎨 REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS: COLUMBIAN THEATRE PAINTING PROJECT 🎨

The City of Wamego is currently accepting proposals from qualified painting contractors for an interior painting project at the historic Columbian Theatre.

The project includes painting designated wall surfaces within the theater room while carefully protecting the building's existing murals, artwork, and architectural features throughout the process.

Interested contractors are encouraged to review the full Request for Proposals (RFP) and schedule the required site visit prior to submitting a proposal.

📅 Proposal Deadline: June 15, 2026 at 2:00 PM
