Where were you 25 years ago today?
Most of us remember exactly - the classroom, the kitchen, the car - the moment the world stopped and never looked the same. And if you were too young to remember, or werenāt even born yet, know that the world you grew up in was shaped by that day. So much of what feels ānormalā now didnāt exist before September 11th.
I remember the bluest sky that morning. I can even remember exactly what I was wearing. The Mad Raven - now Tessieās Waltham - had only been open a year. That afternoon, our regulars didnāt go to work or left ear;y and came to the bar. Glued to the TVs, trying to make sense of the senseless. Strangers bought each other pints. People consoled each other, leaned on one another, simply because thatās what community was for.
In the months that followed, that spirit spread everywhere - I remember seats given up on the T without a flinch, doors held a little longer, neighbors checking on neighbors just because. We were kinder. Somewhere along the way, we drifted from that.
Today, letās bring a little of that back. Do one kind thing today - it doesnāt have to be big. Hold a door, extend a hand, tell someone you love them.
Weāre stocking up our Little Free Pantry today to help ease food insecurity for our neighbors. Thatās one small act today.
What will yours be?
We will never forget. ā„ļøš¤š
