It’s Monday before July 4th, which means half of us are working, half of us are mentally at a cookout, and all of us are wondering if we remembered to buy hot dog buns.

So here’s your Wake Forest Independence Day week game plan:

Friday, July 3: Fireworks Spectacular at Heritage High School
Gates open at 5:30 PM
Fireworks start around 9:30 PM

Saturday, July 4: Children’s Parade
Lineup starts at 10 AM near North Main Street and West Juniper Avenue
Parade starts at 10:30 AM

Then Art & More in the Park runs from 11 AM to 1 PM at Holding Park.

A few friendly reminders:

Carpool if you can. Traffic around Heritage will be busy.

No pets at the fireworks. I know, I know. Luke is offended too.

Please be patient with staff, police, fire, volunteers, and each other. These events take a lot of work behind the scenes.

And most importantly, support local this week.

Grab a hot dog from Shorty's Famous Hot Dogs. Get breakfast, like chicken and waffles, or something amazing from White Story Cafe’. Pick up coffee, lunch, dessert, decorations, or a last minute outfit from a Wake Forest business downtown before the holiday weekend.

The fireworks are fun. The parade is fun. But what really makes Wake Forest special is the people and small businesses that give this town its personality.

Now the important question:
