✨ Employee Spotlight: Meet Shaye Segale ✨

This week’s employee spotlight is Shaye Segale! Aka Shaye Bird. ❤️

Born in Santa Barbara, California, Shaye’s family made the move to Virginia City in 1996, where she started school and quickly became a true hometown girl. To say she’s a local would be an understatement. Growing up in Virginia City, Shaye was an all-star athlete, competing in basketball, softball, and cheerleading while also holding down her very first job at just 14 years old at Priscilla’s, taking old-time photos. She was a member of student body council for three years and proudly served as Student Body President during her senior year. She even spent time as one of Virginia City’s lifeguards, continuing her connection to the community she has always called home.

For the past three years, we’ve been lucky enough to have Shaye as part of The Palace family, and we hope she’ll be with us for many more. Whether she’s helping guests, supporting her teammates, or jumping in wherever she’s needed, she brings dedication, heart, and an incredible work ethic to everything she does.

Her coworkers describe Shaye as someone who feels more like family than just a coworker. She’s hardworking, dependable, thoughtful, and always willing to lend a helping hand without ever asking for recognition. She has a heart full of kindness, a contagious laugh, and the kind of positive attitude that makes even the busiest days better. She’s the person who tells you what you need to hear with honesty and respect, stands beside you through life’s challenges, and never hesitates to lift others up when they need it most. Many of us have known Shaye since she was a young girl, and watching her grow into the incredible woman, mother, daughter, friend, and teammate she is today has been something truly special.

Outside of work, Shaye loves spending time with her family and friends, especially making memories at beautiful Lake Tahoe. She pours the same love and dedication into her personal life that she brings to The Palace every day, and it’s one of the many reasons she’s so loved by everyone around her.

One thing everyone agrees on is that Shaye is truly one of a kind. Her compassion, loyalty, humor, and unwavering work ethic make her an irreplaceable part of our Palace family. We are incredibly grateful for everything she does and so thankful she’s part of our team.

Thank you, Shaye, for your hard work, your friendship, your laughter, and the love you bring to The Palace every single day. We appreciate you more than you know! ❤️

✨ Employee Spotlight: Meet Ronnie ✨

This week’s employee spotlight is Ronnie — though around The Palace you’ll also hear her called Ronald or Ron Ron. ❤️

Born and raised in Castro Valley, California, Ronnie lived there until graduating high school before moving to the San Jose area. In 2001, she made the move to Gardnerville, Nevada, where she planted new roots. She began working in Virginia City in 2021 on the south end of town, and after three years she joined The Palace family. From the moment she walked through our doors, she became so much more than a coworker—she became family.

If you know Ronnie, you know her love language is taking care of others. When she’s not at work, she’s at home caring for her beloved stepdad, Dennis, making sure he has everything he needs. She spends her free time cooking homemade meals for her coworkers and their families, prepping breakfast so no one starts the day hungry, and quietly finding ways to brighten someone else’s life. Ronnie is a woman of deep faith whose relationship with God shines through everything she does. She sees the beauty of God’s handiwork in the world around her and is always lifting others up in prayer, even when they don’t know they need it.

To her coworkers, Ronnie is one of life’s rare gifts. She is the quiet strength behind the scenes—the one who keeps everything moving without ever asking for recognition. She is giving, gracious, hardworking, and always the first to offer a helping hand. Her kindness is effortless, her heart is selfless, and her sense of humor keeps us smiling even on the busiest days. Whether she’s making her famous burritos, checking on a friend, or simply showing up with her unwavering work ethic, Ronnie pours her whole heart into everything she does.

Some people make a difference by being the loudest person in the room. Ronnie makes a difference by loving people well. She reminds us that the smallest acts of kindness often leave the biggest impact, and that serving others is one of the greatest gifts you can give.

Ronnie, thank you for your faithful heart, your generosity, your compassion, and for loving this team the way you do every single day. We are beyond grateful to call you part of The Palace family, and our restaurant is a better place because of you. ❤️

🇺🇸 It was truly an honor to host the Celebration of Life for CSM Alan Callanan, U.S. Army (Ret.).
We are grateful to Alan’s family and friends for allowing us to be a small part of such a meaningful day as they gathered to celebrate a life of service, dedication, and love.
A heartfelt thank you to our local VFW for everything they do to honor and support our veterans. We are incredibly grateful for your continued commitment to preserving the traditions, camaraderie, and respect our nation’s heroes deserve.

✨ Employee Spotlight: Meet Chris Dufresne ✨

This week’s employee spotlight is Chris Dufresne!

Everyone meet Chris! Chris has been part of our Palace family for nearly four years.

Born in Reno and raised right here in Virginia City, Chris graduated from Virginia City High School before heading to Las Vegas, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Film from UNLV. Outside of work, Chris has a passion for music and performs as an EDM DJ under the name DUFRIZZLE, always chasing his dream and sharing his love of music with everyone around him.

His coworkers describe Chris as one of the kindest and most easygoing people you’ll ever meet. He’s always smiling, genuinely cares about how others are doing, and has a way of making everyone around him feel welcome. They say he’s the Palace’s own “Jeff Spicoli”—super chill, carefree, full of dad jokes, and always ready with the perfect high five. Whether he’s sharing stories, inviting friends to his latest DJ show, or simply brightening someone’s day with his positive attitude, Chris brings a fun, laid-back energy wherever he goes. His coworkers admire his kind heart, gentlemanly nature, goofy sense of humor, and unwavering support for those around him. They’re also rooting for his DJ career, knowing his talent and dedication deserve to be recognized.

We’re lucky to have Chris as part of our Palace family, and we’re excited to see where his journey takes him—both behind the bar and behind the DJ booth. ❤️
