Last week we had the chance to host and her family at Felynn for something that became bigger than just food.

Over shared dishes and conversation, we talked about family, Filipino identity, and the ways culture gets passed down across generations sometimes through stories, and sometimes through the meals we grow up around.

Excited to share more from this experience soon šŸ‡µšŸ‡

Felynn serves traditional Filipino cuisine through the style of turo-turo meaning ā€œpoint-pointā€ a common way of dining in the Philippines where guests simply point to the dishes they want, creating an experience that feels both personal and deeply connected to home.

What is Picadillo? šŸ‡µšŸ‡šŸ½ļø

A dish shaped by Spanish influence, loved across the Philippines and Latin cultures. The name comes from ā€œpicarā€ — meaning ā€œto mince.ā€

Traditionally made with ground beef, tomatoes, and a mix of hearty ingredients like potatoes, carrots, green peas, olives, and capers. Simple, rich, and full of history in every bite.

Have you tried it? šŸ‘€

For first timers trying Filipino food turo turo style most people walk in and don’t know what they’re looking at. That’s the point pun intended 🤣

Turo-turo means ā€œpoint to point.ā€ šŸ‘†ļæ½You don’t need to know the names. You don’t need to get it right. You just look… point… and try something new. If you’re not sure ask for a sample and take your time.
That’s how we grew up eating! There’s no pressure and it’s just shared food and curiosity!
Now that you’re more informed on how it works com give us a try!

Kare Kare, rooted in Pampanga where bold flavors and tradition run deep.

It’s a slow-cooked dish built around a rich, savory peanut-based sauce, traditionally made with ground peanuts (or peanut butter), thickened with toasted rice powder. The protein is usually oxtail, sometimes tripe or pork, cooked until it’s fall-apart tender. Then you’ve got vegetables like eggplant, string beans, and banana blossom layered in. It’s not just about the peanut sauce or the process… it’s about how every family has their own way, their own standard of what it should be.
Here at Felynn, that same tradition carries on.
