In response to a customer who asked why a block of cheese cost $8. And what was stopping them from ordering their own.

We order the cheese, pay for shipping, pay for the overhead of the shop the cheese is delivered too. We cut fresh samples every week to pack up and bring to a market that we also pay a fee, licenses and insurance to participate in so it is convenient for you to purchase said cheese. A 3 hour market is actually is up to an 8 hour day with packing, loading, setting up etc. An employee must be paid to either work the market or the shop. I also need to also earn a little off it to live on myself.

I pretended to order a block of cheese off the website of the cheese in question. The bar I am charging $8 will cost you almost $16 after paying for shipping. The way I see it you’re actually getting quite a deal. 😁🧀❤️

We are taking over Spotswood Avenue this Friday, July 17th, from 4 to 7 PM, and we are bringing a massive feast with us. You can grab incredible bison dogs from Riffle Farm, hit up Yolee’s G-Dawgs, or get your fix from LUCITA’S. Literally everyone in the family is going to find something they love, so skip the cooking and the dishes and just come hungry.

When you spend your Friday evening with the Ghent Farmers Market, you are doing so much more than just grabbing a bite to eat or doing some weekend shopping. You are directly supporting your neighbors, local farmers, bakers, and makers who pour their absolute hearts into everything they create.
