Like so many in our community, our hearts ache after hearing that Paint’s Underground Pizza and The Chopping Block Victoria will be closing their doors at the end of the month.
Behind every small business is a family. Behind every menu item, every product, every service, and every smiling face is a story of sacrifice, risk, hard work, and love. Small business owners don’t clock out at the end of the day. They carry the weight of payroll, bills, repairs, rising costs, and the responsibility of providing for their employees and families every single day.
As a family owned business, these announcements hit especially close to home.
Our family has experienced tremendous losses of a husband, a father, a sister, and a daughter. There were moments when the grief felt impossible to carry. Yet every day, we continue showing up, serving our community, and keeping their memories alive through each and every meal that leaves our kitchen. Their love, sacrifice, traditions, and dreams are woven into everything we do.
That is the reality for so many local businesses. They are more than storefronts, they are families, memories, legacies, and dreams.
If there is a local business you love, please don’t wait until you see a closing announcement to support them. Visit them. Tell your friends about them. Share their posts. Leave a review. Choose local whenever you can.
One extra visit a month may not seem like much, but to a small business, it can make all the difference.
Victoria has always been a community that rallies around one another in difficult times. Let’s continue doing that now. Let’s show up for the businesses that sponsor our children’s activities, donate to local causes, support our schools, employ our neighbors, and help make Victoria feel like home.
